Beautiful! cant wait to see the vid!

Wasn't too happy with the fore hull profile. There was this ugly bulge that would have  caused a disturbing bow wave and would have resulted in a bobbing motion. Decided to tear it apart and rebuild it. These are the results. I'm satisfied, though I know that I could have done better. Final finishing will take care of the small discrepancies.

Going slow on these builds. Hope it pays off.

Ho Hum! Here we go again. To start with, the shape of the bridge windshield / portholes are entirely incorrect and needs to be rebuilt. Lot of work remaining. 

wow! how did you make such a beautiful hull with foam board? I have hit a roadblock on my mhadei build... the upper area is ready but the hull is not coming only! it keeps looking... polygonal.... like its been chiselled.. I can't get that smooth finish...

You need to get yourself a can of 'Bilux Polyester Putty' that is available at automotive stores. I've been using it extensively on my builds. Dries fast, can be sanded and is totally waterproof. Check videos on Youtube about 'polyester putty' and you will get to know how to apply it.

How does one get hold of this magnificent set of detailing kit without paying for it?

Well......if you don't want to pay for it:

1. Catch some generous soul, e.g. whose favourite nephew you are

2. Steal 

Rai sahib, there exists a 3rd. option. Strictly reserved for masochists. Scratch build the entire lot! Then again, you have to adhere to scale and also do better than what is being offered by the firangis.

I have added a lot of extra details. The Searchlight actually works. The mast will feature a working navigation light. The port, starboard nav lights are also functional. The crane can be traversed manually (like the original). The main mast has a nav light and folds down like the real thing did in 1950.

Finally, she is ready for her maiden voyage. Uploading pictures in a while. The detailing has left me completely spent.

EVERYTHING (except the ESC, Brushed Motor, Servos, Tx, Rx, wires, propeller, LED's and Battery pack ) is scratch built.

In fact, the stow nets (in the first photo) were hand knitted.

I bit off more than I could chew, at times........thankfully, I pushed on.

Final  touch up painting, varnish yet to be done. Should complete by tomorrow. Maiden for this and the Mermaid next week, hopefully.

Working Mast / Navigation lights and Searchlight (controlled via a dismantled 9 gm servo and a free channel on the Rx), wailing siren yet to be installed.

I will detail the scratch building process of the various components, if the forum desires.

550 Brushed Motor and Reversible ESC, 2S LiPo, Avionic RCB 6i Tx/Rx (Removing the HK system), Turnigy Blue Prop (forgot the dimensions), 2 x 9G servos for rudder and lights. AUW 1656 grams.
