Following the legendary Keil Kraft Eezebilt plans for a Royal Air Force Crash Tender boat from the 1950's.. Plans exploded to 130%. Trying to build it completely out of Foam Board.
Completed model should be around 27" in length. Using foam board for the construction.
The last photo illustrates what my withdrawing room looks like now. :banghead: I have to clean up this mess before I sleep tonight, or else, the missus won't be too happy in the morning.
This is what I am aiming for.

Free plans and all. Enjoy yourself!
beautiful build vc sir... Hope we see more later..
Beautiful Build??? I haven't even starting building as yet! Thanks anyway! :
hehehehehe....
i mean it will be a very beautiful build sir..
All templates pasted on 2,3,4 mm foam and plywood.
All parts have been cut out today, except the hull skinning. A total of 92 parts have to be assembled. My right palm has swollen up. It was a Herculean task cutting the 4mm and 5mm (hull bulkheads) foam with a modelling knife. The Keel has to be made thicker and stronger.
awesome job VC!
yep..i can understand the pains in cutting the parts..but when it comes together, its definitely worth the efforts!
Its good to see a boat being constructed and I wish to build one someday. Well, looking forward for subsequent posts.
-aditya joshi.
This is a Vosper boat and the hull shape is versatile. It can be utilised for making the famous Vosper Thornycroft torpedo boats. Construction started this morning.
Keel made from 4 mm ply. Planning on a twin brushed drive or a single BLM. Haven't decided as yet.
Cheers!
P.s. My 4000th. post! :o There is another milestone attached to this. This is the first time ever, that I have 3 boats under construction simultaneously. The Schnellboot, Mermaid and now this.
Had bought some Universal Joints from RCD in Sept 2012. I spent the last 5 hours fruitlessly searching for them. I have stashed them somewhere, very carefully, and now I can't find them. :banghead: Construction suffered, had hoped to achieve more today. This is where she is now.
Hope you get un-disjointed soon VC. Always a pleasure to view your builds
Sir, thank you. However, due to the less than lukewarm response to this thread (and other builds), I've decided to stop documenting the build process - just not worth my time, I'd rather post my detailed build logs on overseas forums where the elicit much better responses and cerebral interactions. I see a lot of so called 'boat lovers' logging in to the forum, and I notice their total lack of interest in following / commenting on any of the builds here. :giggle:
The next entry on this thread shall be that of the boat maiden video. Whenever that is.
Cheers!
VC
700+ views of these two boat thread and 3000 odd for Schnellboot is not lukewarm response, people are seeing it (may be with awe) they are not contributing (me inclusive) coz we don't have much to contribute, atleast me, i am not a boat guy, i sail, kayak, boat all on the action front, what goes into it? no bloody clue, and i am sure it is the similar case with others too, you need to keep on posting your progress for simple reason that any wannabe (like me) can take clues and build from there. i agree modelboatmayhem.com is more engaging, it is model boat forum for god sakes !. My point is, post or no post is upto you, if you do? wannabe boaters will benefit, boat modelling (Nos of which is so few in India) will improve. Remember, a lot of wannabes look upto you.
So !! continue posting ;D
Awww, come of it VC. We love you so much we award you the Victoria Cross 1st Class!
Hello VC,
to put on record your every build log, specially the ones on MTBs are being closely followed by me and I am sure like me there are many others.
As a matter of fact your PT 109 inspired me to try my hand at scratch building my 1/50 scale Thornycroft MTB and ofcourse my current project the 1/50 scale IJN MTBD.
Post this build I plan to do a PT109 & perhaps later a S-boot, both in 1/50 scale, and surely always using your build logs as yard sticks.
regards
nilanjan paul
I  to good advice. Sorry if I was being a jerk, however, it does get a little frustrating :banghead: around here. Is that why the other, more accomplished, boat modellers don't post much any more? ??? :headscratch:
Cabin fit tested. Bottom skin support bulkheads installed. Tomorrow, I plan to install the stuffing tube and the skins.
Nilanjan, I am following the IJN keenly and I think that it is going to be a beauty. Would love to see your other builds taking shape.. I am interested in these plans - do you have anything on these lines to spare?
Why do boat builders "lay the keel?"
Nothing else :D ?
Because there are only buoys at sea and buoys will be buoys.

That merits another Victoria Cross!
Got these lovely Universal Joint / Stuffing tube / Props sets from Alok (alokhovercraft) some time back. I am going to use these for both this boat and the Mermaid.
All modellers aspiring to build this boat from the plans supplied - BEWARE!
As cautioned by the creator / replicater of these plans, this plan is not a tried and tested article and needs a LOT of modifications to ensure perfect fits. This is not a plan or a model for a beginner. Certainly not an 'Eezebilt' model.
Please pay special attention to the 'Error' pages.

Status as on date.
The Hull Skinning is going to be in two composite layers on this model. Can't use available plywood as the flexibility of the ply while covering the bow will be an issue and the contours may not be accurate. I need something more forgiving yet strong.. I have tried steaming the ply, however, I am still not confident of the final result. Therefore, the first layer is going to be out of 2mm expanded foam (Sunfoam). On top of that will be 1mm maroon plastic sheeting. I had used the same sheeting on the Antares / Naughty Cal with GREAT results. That was a much smaller model with many more bulkheads, thus rigidity wasn't a problem. I may need to add additional bulkheads here though the sunfoam will help the moulding.
Hull skinning completed. I never thought that it would be so easy to work with foam board on the hull skinning. The Bow (front/nose) section with all its complex curves has worked out beyond my expectations.
i also need these type's of connector
Beautiful! cant wait to see the vid! ;D
Wasn't too happy with the fore hull profile. There was this ugly bulge that would have caused a disturbing bow wave and would have resulted in a bobbing motion. Decided to tear it apart and rebuild it. These are the results. I'm satisfied, though I know that I could have done better. Final finishing will take care of the small discrepancies.
Going slow on these builds. Hope it pays off.
Bash on sir, audience awaits with bated breath
Ho Hum! Here we go again. To start with, the shape of the bridge windshield / portholes are entirely incorrect and needs to be rebuilt. Lot of work remaining. :banghead:
wow! how did you make such a beautiful hull with foam board? I have hit a roadblock on my mhadei build... the upper area is ready but the hull is not coming only! it keeps looking... polygonal.... like its been chiselled.. I can't get that smooth finish... :-\

You need to get yourself a can of 'Bilux Polyester Putty' that is available at automotive stores. I've been using it extensively on my builds. Dries fast, can be sanded and is totally waterproof. Check videos on Youtube about 'polyester putty' and you will get to know how to apply it.
Ab theek hai - Aaaab heek hai. ;D
Great. I think we are going to see another completion very soon! {:)} {:)}
VC sir Its really looking gr8... Can we build her in Sunboard? Pls post pic of hardware assembly. too
Thnx
Chetan bhai, it IS built out of Sunboard.
mas·och·ism
/ˈmasəˌkizəm/
Noun
The tendency to derive pleasure, from one's own pain or humiliation.
(in general use) The enjoyment of what appears to be painful or tiresome.
How does one get hold of this magnificent set of detailing kit without paying for it? ??? :headscratch: ;)
Well......if you don't want to pay for it:
1. Catch some generous soul, e.g. whose favourite nephew you are
2. Steal
Rai sahib, there exists a 3rd. option. Strictly reserved for masochists. Scratch build the entire lot! Then again, you have to adhere to scale and also do better than what is being offered by the firangis. ;D
I have added a lot of extra details. The Searchlight actually works. The mast will feature a working navigation light. The port, starboard nav lights are also functional. The crane can be traversed manually (like the original). The main mast has a nav light and folds down like the real thing did in 1950.
Check out the stowed net once I post it.
Judge for yourself. More to follow. Learning how to knit now - guess why? ???
So much yet to learn and so much more yet to do.
Stay tuned.
Beautiful build bhaiya. And I am not a boat guy, so why are you learning how to knit?
VC sir!!!! :hatsoff: :hatsoff: :hatsoff: :goodjob:
Positively brilliant stuff! Just love it. Gawd...the man has patience, and an infinite capacity for self-torture ;) ;) ;)
Yes, knitting, yes. Very therapeutic. Soothes the nerves after those extreme bouts of masochism
awesome builr sir love it nice profile picture by the way
Finally, she is ready for her maiden voyage. Uploading pictures in a while. The detailing has left me completely spent.
Here are some teasers..................... ;)
Here are some more pictures of the completed model.
EVERYTHING (except the ESC, Brushed Motor, Servos, Tx, Rx, wires, propeller, LED's and Battery pack :)) is scratch built.
In fact, the stow nets (in the first photo) were hand knitted.
I bit off more than I could chew, at times........thankfully, I pushed on.
Final touch up painting, varnish yet to be done. Should complete by tomorrow. Maiden for this and the Mermaid next week, hopefully.
Working Mast / Navigation lights and Searchlight (controlled via a dismantled 9 gm servo and a free channel on the Rx), wailing siren yet to be installed.
24th. Feb 2013 - 19th. Oct 2013 .......this has been one long build. I hope it was worth it.
I will detail the scratch building process of the various components, if the forum desires.
550 Brushed Motor and Reversible ESC, 2S LiPo, Avionic RCB 6i Tx/Rx (Removing the HK system), Turnigy Blue Prop (forgot the dimensions), 2 x 9G servos for rudder and lights. AUW 1656 grams.
vc sir that's beautiful! Can't wait to see you maiden it! :hatsoff:

Thanks Aniket, hope to do it tomorrow or the day after. She seems over powered. We will find out soon.
there are 2 props right? are you having differential thrust?
if you have, then mount the camera onboard! it will be like boat fpv :-*
Sent from a potato using a lamp
There is only one prop. Direction is controlled by the rudder. I will mount a key chain cam.
didn't find any method to contact you in this forum
i want to know where can i get foam boards in guwahati i am studying in IIT-guwahati want to build an Cargo Rc plane please help me out
that is really very detailed work done, the boat is almost resembling the original to a great extend.
working lights and siren will be more realistic on water, waiting for the video.
Thank you Maharana Sir! I wish I had been a little more patient with it.
Totally spectacular {:)} {:)} {:)}
Can't wait to see it in action (:|~ (:|~
Thank you Sir. Mast LED blew out. Everything ripped out and under maintenance now.
:headscratch: :headscratch: This time make it so that you can change a bulb without breaking the walls to get to the wiring ;) ;)
Damage repaired. By the way, I told you that I was learning to knit........ ;)
Awesome. Now in winter you can keep your fingers warm for the sticks :D:D

Awesome !!!
hey VC... do you have the PT boat plans by any chance. I can see you're building the Vosper. Similar but not the same! A newbie in this forum but I build Tamiya kit conversions mostly. All converted to RC. Want to try my hand at scratch building :)
