Hi guys I have built a Rc car for less than ₹1500
The electronics are
Servo - JR 519 ( second hand )( got it for free from a Aeromodeller )
Battery - wolf pack 1000mah 7.4 v( 550)
Motor - no idea( got it along with the car body )
Esc - hobbyking 20 amp brushed esc( 700)
Body - cheap Chinese Rc car bought from China bazaar(250)
So the total cost is ₹1500
This car is supercool , it can also drift .
nice work devang {:)} {:)}...i think i'll make one too ;D
regards
rohan
Thanks . All the best
The servo mechanism was a very hard puzzle , try to take inspiration from mine
Brushed ESC from hk? can we find one from India? Any LHS stocks it??
And are these ESC reversible too?
{:)} {:)} {:)} superb
Nice jugaad ;D
dont understand servo mechanism for stearing, want to see the video (:|~
No sir esc is not reversible , I have bought this one from thehobbyshop (THS) they have shifted to Lucknow now .
Sir I will post a video by tonight .
Thanks devang, i must say this post has inspired me to convert my 27mhz car to a 2.4Ghz car i will get that done this weekend and post pics
Thanks
Great !! I hope your car is even better than mine !
BTW. The run time on this is 2 hours . SERIOUSLY !
As it originally used 2x AA cells
And I'm using a 7.4 v 1100 mah 20c battery
I have Hummer H2 which uses 4 x AA so i think it would work fine with 2S lipo
It should work great !
Video - http://youtu.be/6tbj_86CaCc (http://youtu.be/6tbj_86CaCc)
Video should be available in 30 mins ( wasted all leftover 3G downloading IOS 8 yesterday across all my I devices )
Available now .
Nice work devang!!!
Thanks
How was my drifting ?
It was good...how fast did it go??
Not very sure , but it's atleast 60 kmph
Excellent! {:)}
Thanks sir
Very good.
How can it be 60kmph with stock motor.
I said that I was not very sure , I guessed it by thinking of a real car at 60 and then this at full speed . I will try to make a video of it in full speed also .
EMAX 9 Gram metal gear servo would work??
Sir , it depends on the scale , I would recommend you a standard size plastic servo only as it has about 3.5 - 4.4 kg torque , hummer is a off roader , on the dirt the force should be a lot that would try to pull the wheels on one side .
You can get a rough calculation if you can find out the maximum revs on the brushed motor. Since it's a simple gear reduction, you can calculate the theoretical top speed easily.

@devangflyer
Easy to estimate.
Standard conversion is 30mph=44fps=48kmph
So if it is going over 60kmph, it must be covering about 55ft every second...
Thanks sir , I'm taking it to a proper track on Sunday , i will try it there .
What tx are you using? Please explain how you would setup reverse if at all the ESC supported, with a normal tx, not those ground transmitter. My nephew wants help on converting a Maisto static model to RC. Thanks in advance...
I'm using a Futaba t8FG Super , it is actually used for planes and helis . A ground remote usually has a spring attached to the throttle stick to keep it in the middle and so if you want to use a reverse esc , just keep the stick in the middle or add a spring there .
This must be a very basic question for a car guy but, how do we setup a normal plane/heli tx to use a brushed ESC with reverse function? Any help? Yes, I ve seen some toy cars where the throttle stick is in centre for neutral, back for reverse and front for normal drive but here, we are talking about mode1/2 style transmitters... Anyway we can achieve this, or there's no way? Thanks.
There's nothing different , you do everything same as you would do in a plane & heli
Mode doesn't effect anything only throttle would be on right side in mode 1
But throttle is 0 or 100 right? How to go reverse is my question...
You calibrate the esc with the stick in the middle , so the esc takes 50 as 0 and 0 as -50
I will be great if that works. Thanks... By the way, nice mod of the car. Post more vids...
Will do
Very good work devang {:)} {:)}

Put the car ESC plug on the elevator channel, which is already centered and calibrate it to those stick limits. Use the rudder/aileron channel for steering.
That should work too. I bought a used brushed ESC with with reverse from one of the forum member but the throttle wont at all, however, BEC seems to work because a servo connected for steering works fine. Nothing on the board seems to be burnt. Devang I apologise for hijacking your thread, I was unsure if I should start a new topic.
you do not need to post an apology sir , the main aim of every single thread of this forum is to help each other .
