Hi,

I am building a kids ride for my nephew something like this:

I have got the base body and was planning the powerline system. I found this gearbox which seems usefull:
http://www.aliexpress.com/item/6v-12v390-child-electric-bicycle-motorcycle-toy-car-motor-gear-box-gearbox-baby-accessories/1567288622.html

but ordering/shipping will take weeks and not guaranteed. Can anyone suggest where i can find this here in india or in any shop which repairs such toys?

Any other suggestions/comments on this idea are also welcome   :)

Thanks,
Shashank

It will take around one month to reach you. If you are not sure about the dealer then you can try the same thing on ebay.com. (not ebay.in). You ll have money guarantee. If the seller does not ships your item your money ll be refunded. By looking at the size of the gear box I dont think it wld be good enough for a car. or else you can use two such gear box, on each of the wheel, provided you are using two motors. BTW which motor you are going to use.

since the kid is just an year old, m planning to use a same 12v DC motor (rs390) the gearbox comes with.
Single motor will keep it in low speed and have only basic functions.. fwd,rev n will probably throw a bigass servo in for controlled turns.

Well sir those dc motors will not be enough, they cannot pull the overall weight of the vehicle as well as the kid. Those motors ve nylon gears which will tear down n the motor will become a free wheel. You should go for the Metal Geared Motors like Johnson motors, also called High Torque motors. they are a bit expensive, may be 1000 bucks each. or maybe more than that. but this motor can handle the required torque, especially if you couple it with the above mentioned gear box, it ll work very nicely. As an initial test you can even try these motors without using the gear box, but you should go for a low rpm motor, like upto 100rpm.

the gearbox i mentioned is meant for the kids ride only and comes with RS390 motor options either in 6V or 12V.
the gears r mixed of metal and plastic as i see but are apt for slow speed riding car for kids.
My initial challenge is gearbox which i guess have to build it of my own if i don't get if off the shelf.

Well i need to check out rs 390 motors
