Title: broken fuel tank

hi , i have a TT sledge hammer s50 and recently my friend was filling up the tank and he left it when the stopper was fully back and a piece from the tank came off . I do not have the broken parts ....................... so can anyone tell me how to fix it ?

I cant take a pic now. It's chipped at the upper brim where the stopper meets the brim

i was thinking of heating it up and sticking a piece of plastic , but i don't know what plastic to use......... can someone give a suggest

i bought a new fuel tank , but i would still like to know how to fix it if anyone knows .
