Personally,I feel wheelies are more for showoff and nothing else. >:D >:D >:D >:D >:D >:D >:D
on the e revo series of traxxas, without a wheelie bar,you end up with a damaged wing and more stuff later.
Once or twice, they are fun.Later they get irritating :banghead: :banghead: when your car starts flipping and you end up breaking parts.Whenever I watch videos of e revos(the 1/10 or the 1/16)I see more wheelies and lots of flipping than anything else.)That is one of the reasons I decided to buy a slash instead of a mini e revo.I know that you can set this right by gearing it up,adding a wheelie bar or changing to better springs.I know this looks like a stupid kid complainig but.......
what would you guys say?
Get a center differential.. Its supposed to help deliver more power to the other 2 diffs.. This is supposed to reduce wheelies... Not seen any car though..
Oh yeah and a center diff is an accessory to avoid wheelies too.You found a chink in my armour divyam.I have seen the center diffs reducing wheelies. This brings me to a point.Apart from handling,do they serve an additional purpose? If you remove your slipper clutch and put a center diff(Please verify this as I think that a slipper clutch is removed to add a center diff),how much stress is transferred to the drivetrain?
And for the guys who cannot do without a slipper clutch, this is still a problem. The other changes seem to reduce wheelies to a lesser extent.
depends on your driving tricks, plus slipper clutch
loosen the slipper, u will get max acceleration with almost no wheelies, harden it and immense rolling wheels with wheelies but later on worn out transmission
Or if you are using a programmable ESC, set your "Throttle Punch" settings down to your liking..
Once again two more good solutions to reduce wheelies.I have not seen how much of a difference slipper adjustments make to wheelies but the throttle punch settings are good.I think they exist only on castle creations ESC s right?
But loosening the slipper wastes a little bit of power right?I had seen a 'how to' on rc411.com about slipper settings where the slipper was to be adjusted going by the track conditions.
That's not true.. I think you get those options in cheaper Hobbywing ESC/Motor combos where you get a "programming card".. Even Losi's brushless system has a "programming card".. Sadly, I don't think there's one on the Traxxas vehicles.. :(
Oh,I didn't know that. Thanks for letting me know.
It is a booer that traxxas doesn't have one on their ESCs.
traxxas only has a dual mode in rustler, wherein you can reduce the speed to 15mph

Too loose slipper = lot of slips and thus power loss
Too Tight slipper = worn gears
Good Slipper = Nice acceleration
It all depends. This slipper clutch method is only for that case when you really start hating the wheelies and are ready to do anything, this is not what slipper C is actually meant for.
I think wheelies are awesome...here's my Erevo VXL doing a few on marshy ground....it has the best power to weight ratio ever in an RC truck!!
Bingo Dude...!
Atleast 1 wheelie lover after me
I don't own a RC car but I think wheelies are cool! :) But then I guess it would get pretty irritating if the thing kept popping wheelies everytime you hit the throttle..
And thats where throttle management comes in!!
It is a lot more difficult in helis/planes (throttle management) but even in cars one needs some skill and practice. If you pump the throttle it will do a full flip in the air and become straight again.
If you manage it well, you can hold a wheelie indefinitely wihout flipping and without grounding the front wheels - wheelie bar or not.
If wheelie is not wanted a gentler squeeze at the start till it reaches full acceleration can be achieved.
Wheelies are a manuevre thats possible and controllable with good power and throttle management - not an unwanted evil that results from excess power....here are a few more pics of the VXL!!
exactly, once you have reached a certain speed(40's or 50's) its then no difficulty to control the wheelie....
its just at t he start, full throttle dosent gives you the best accelerations bu rather gives wheelies and sidepops, while best acc can be obtained by gradual acc only
yes that is correct....
so dont waste your time about differentials and slipper clutches and programming your ESC's to reduce the punch at the start! Learn the art of throttle managment instead.
I am running the VXL with 4S lipos at 14.4v (2 X 7.4v packs in series) where I have clocked 90kmph with my GPS and extreme acceleration. All with stock settings without a hint of a wheelie when I don't want it...and awesome wheelies when I do want it.
Cheers
Hey Lavneet, didn't you burn you ESC with 4s??????????
I liked Lavneet's solution and his pictures.
And as Aneesh said, they become irritating when you get them a lot.But wheelies on demand are cool. For a beginner,I guess throttle control is exactly what is needed. But then, that is the hardest thing to do when you get your car because you want to punch the throttle and see how it goes.
And nice pics Lavneet.
No, it didnt burn the esc since the VXL package includes a pinion for lower gearing for 11.1 and 14.4v operation. That keeps the motor/esc cool. it is a 5 minute swap.
But the ESC is rated for 3s right? The velineon system is rated for 3s from what I read online. The merv should be a monster with 4s.Why don't you upload a video?
The ESC's are rated for continuous amps. I think this one has a 40 amp esc and at 14.4v with smaller pinion gear, it draws fewer amps than 40....No videos after i upgraded to lipos....have an old one from the 7.2v nimh days but thats no good :)
well OK...here's the video from last year but this was when it just came in and I only had the 7.2v nimh. Didn't do more than 55-60 km with that altho it couldnt do back flips, wheelies were OK

For my XXT with the Sidewinder 5700kv upgrade throttle control is a must but I would like to punch it and keep all 4's gripping (4x4) so I'm thinking about adding weight to the front for balance. I molested my slipper clutch but with that motor it is like a 800hp engine in a wheelchair...wow......not complaining!
I completely agree with lavneet, it about throttle control. I have seen the guys who come to track hold a savage flux wheelie for 100 mts at high speeds of 65 kph, but when they get onto track you will not see the car nose lifting.
the MERV is the best small scale u can get. I love mine.
