Has anybody heard of a company called EDAM before?
I saw their new 1:10 EP on-road car on RedRC, http://www.redrc.net/2011/09/edam-esprit-110-on-road-chassis/ (http://www.redrc.net/2011/09/edam-esprit-110-on-road-chassis/)
Its spec seems quite different from normal 1:10 EP touring of other brands. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O53GvVvfSVg (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O53GvVvfSVg)
After Google it a little bit, I found this http://www.edamhobby.com/news_detail.asp?sn=336 (http://www.edamhobby.com/news_detail.asp?sn=336)
Where can i get one in India? :thanks:
They aren't in India. Small brands don't make it here because they won't be practical( financially and logistically) for the dealers...
And on- road cars haven't made a mark yet due to lack of tracks. I do hear that one is coming up in Mumbai. Siddharth should know better. There are few poeple with TC's but I haven't heard of many running them...
The car looks like a standard TC apart from the possibility of running 3s on it... But 3s will be too much on a car like that. You'll have to move to a lower Kv to use the 3s. 3s adds weight which TC racers hate. Off- road guys like weight to an extent.... A 3s pack will raise the CG as well....
And EDAM doesn't seem like a big company. The top end cars are made by XRAY, Tamiya, HB, Yokomo and Serpent. If you're really keen on running on road with a good car( and on a relatively tight budget), I'd suggest you get a good used ( XRAY)T3, TCX (HB)or TRF416(Tamiya) from somewhere... There are other companies like 3racing that are making promising strides...
But overall, on- road is a dormant class in India. And on- road requires a different breed of electronics and setup techniques. Setup is quite important as well. Setting up an on road car properly takes some good equipment. And you'll be going through tires more often than you will in off- road. Overall, it is quite an expensive class to run in.....
The car itself shows a few influences from 1/10 and 1/8 nitro on- road. Apart form that, it seems average to me.
Still couldn't forget about this car..............................

Can it really runs up to 131km/hr ??!!
Given the right gearing and power combo, yes...
Can 1:10 EP cars of other brands with right gearing and power combo run as fast as this one?
As far as i know, most of other cars are 190mm in this category, can they handle power combo of such speed? :headscratch:
Yes, they can.
Looks like a nice initiative. But they are too far from brands like Serpent, Xray, Mugen and Tamiya in onroad racing, let alone compete.
My knowledge on onroads is very limited, but the years of engineering by the above companies mean a lot to the race results they achieve. They also have the worlds best racers on the payroll like Collari, Marc , Branson etc
I've checked on their website, it's kind of interesting that they were an IT company.
mail4ajo you got reason for the experience and history of those brands. :iagree:
Yet maybe they could be more innovative because of their IT background?
True...
But if you want to push the limits of TC's, take a look at Awesomatrix from Russia...
I saw this news from EDAM's Facebook page.
A Korean driver tried to break EDAM Espirit's 131km/hr at the beginning of December but failed.

So he tried again and beat them with 141km/hr record.

It's a pity that it's not available in India :(
