Project: N4 "Caustic Pearl" featuring real-time telemetry "Telesys"

It's an almost scratch-built project for 2015, a car on four wheels for a change. ;)

The main objective of this project is to have a real-time performance telemetry with a standalone base station and a minimalistic traction control system.
More like incorporating tiny bits of Formula1 technology into a small RC car.

The car itself is not fully designed and fabricated since the aim of the project is something different from that, so I will be using quite a few off-the-shelf parts, but on a custom chassis pan and suspension setup, focusing more work time into the embedded system.

It's probably going to be a slow, year-long project. ;D

More details coming up soon...

Awesome Anjan. Subscribed.

Source for just the hardware on the table please?

Nitesh, thanks!

Sundaram sir,  thanks, I got all those parts from HobbyKing.

Been working in parallel on the car and the telemetry part.

Most of the car is still in the design refinement state, although 95% of CAD done.
Looking for Aluminium 6061 T6 or 6063 T6 of 1.5-2mm thickness in Bangalore, its proving to be a little hard, if someone knows a low quantity dealer/sampler please give me a heads up.

Telemetry features:
Current:
1. Arduino based
2. Deal-time telemetry with 200m+ range
3. Temperature (motor, ESC, battery)
4. Battery voltage
5. Battery Current draw
6. BEC voltage
7. BEC current (for over current indication)
8. Motor RPM/ car speed
9. Data logging at base.
10. Base station UI developed in LabVIEW
11. Data accessible in real-time on an Android device via an OTG serial terminal.

Planned updates:
1. Airspeed sensor (for aeroplanes)
2. IMU integration for chassis roll analysis
3. on-board data logging to SD card
4. Porting UI code to a Processing version to able to run on a Raspberry Pi or such SBCs

Open for suggestions on any additional features you guys might think is useful.

Managed to get my hands on some 2mm Aluminium 6063, enough to laser cut the base pan and shock rockers.

Telemetry update:
Arduino code is nearing completion, needs a bit of refinement in data processing for a smooth flow.
LabVIEW UI catching up.

Car update:
Prototyping the base pan out of sun board and modifying a few mounting points before fabricating it.
Front suspension arm mounts, rear suspension arms including the differential box mounts and servo mount are done.
Next up, finalizing steering mechanism and setting limits/constrains.

Prototyping on an Arduino Mega. Waiting on the Arduino Nano sensor shield from AliExpress, fits my application and it's much neat for the price than a DIY PCB.

Added a few graph plots to display Lipo voltage, current draw and power consumption in the base station UI to ease data analysis.

Great jobAnjanBabu !!! Glad to see people doing Scratch build in Buggies too!!

Where did you got such a fine job done ?? I have got hold of few Laser CNC shops who work on Vinyl and Wood. But on Metal!! the CNC Milling job is nice. Do share such contacts!!
