I am planning on buying a RC car my budget is around 20k (would like to spend within and if possible not exceed it  ;D)

The options i've considered right now are:-

1. Traxxas Slash 2wd Brushed edition 1/10th scale
2. Traxxas Slash 4wd, Brushless, 1/16th scale
3. Traxxas e-revo 4wd, Brushless, 1/16th scale

Please tell me which among these is the best. I will mainly be using it on the terrace, backyard (pretty huge almost 20'x30' and there's absolutely no concrete/cement ) and a little bit of track racing whenever i get a chance. Please suggest any other brand with proper support in India.
Traxxas Revo 3.3

Well, you are in teh same situation I was in a few months ago.I had 25k to spend and had almost the same choices.I would suggest the mini e revo 1/16 brushless edition.Suggesting against the 1/10 slash because it is brushed.

Yeah.. For that budget, Mini Revo is good.. BUT, if it is POSSIBLE, go for the Slash 4x4.. Killer vehicle and frankly, more controllable than a mini Revo..

@iamhuman: Yup. Went through your thread before posting mine. Mini revo is what seems the best option of the lot, since i really don't want to spend more than 20k. Do you suggest any other brand ? TT or may be someother one i am not aware of.
@Divyam: Mini revo from the videos i've seen has two eheels in the air on every start. How is it otherwise ? On sand/tarmac/grass etc ?

Also will it be enjoyable on the track ? I'm speaking about 1/16th scale cars in general AND the mini revo which, from what i've read, has some issues on the track regarding controllability
Traxxas Revo 3.3

iamahuman

The reason I got the slash is because of the control issue that Divyam has mentioned.Again,IF you're willing to go the extra mile, get a slash 4x4.You'll be happier. If its not possible, get a mini e revo, make some sway bars(if possible.Traxxas doesn't sell them)You can try the Ttr sparrowhawk XXT.its 15k plus batteries and charger. Its not as strong as the slash 4x4.So,IF possible, get the slash 4x4.OR go with the mini E revo but the performance on track won't be the best but you will have a blast bashing it.Especially on the road.IF you want to drive on the road, get yourself some on-road tires.

How good is the sparrowhawk in terms of reliability ? read about some quality issues on the forum.
Hmmm... if a strech my budget to accomodate a Slash 4x4 i'm tempted to look at t-maxx 3.3. :headscratch: Lol. The budget goes for a toss again  ;D
How much do on-road tyres cost ? if you have an some idea about it
Traxxas Revo 3.3

iamahuman

If you have a choice between a slash 4x4 and a T-maxx,get the slash.elecs are faster.Ttr has some probs. The slash has more quality and is more durable.

on-roads should cost like 2,000 rs or something like that.Again,I would suggest you take a look at the slash.

The terrace space is too small for both the scales. I would suggest a Slash 4x4 1.10. It is a great car out of the box, unlimited upgrades, handles really well and a great car to start with. If you just want cars which are stupidly fast look at the 1.16 merv.

Other options around the same price point

HPI Mini Trophy 4WD
Traxxas Rustler VXL
HPI bullit flux

@siddharth: the terrace space is ~2500 sq.ft. I will eventually take it out on the road but i hate crowd building up and asking me all sort of stupid questions. So was considering indoor options. My understanding is that Slash is a better all-rounder and worth the additional amount spent. Where can i get HPI products in bangalore? Rustler VXL is a 2wd. When will a 4wd be better than a 2wd ?

Any idea about the VAT on RC cars ? I think it is 3.5%.

@Iamhuman - a 4wd is not always better than a 2wd. The 1/5th scale is a good example, i personally prefer the rear wheel drive as it has the ability to be flicked in a corner. Since there is so much weight those things are very easy to control. I feel the 4wd 1.5 offroad are a lot harder to control around corners as they tend to push a lot unless you have a long sweeping corner.

Eventually you will have to take the car to open spaces to drive it. The slash is a great all rounder. Pmed you the details of the bangalore contact.

Just did some research online and it seems that Jammin SCRT10 is a very good car too. Is it worth considering bearing in mind my kind of usage. One review said its best suited on-road.
Traxxas Revo 3.3

iamahuman

Its a good racer but not the best basher and I don't think it fits your budget.

Can someone give me the contact for HPI Bangalore ?

As of now Slash 4x4 is what i think i will buy. But in the same range there's also the t-maxx 3.3. Its a MT and a nitro so totally different from what i started considering initially. How good is the t-maxx ? Also is it so loud (in comparison to electronics) that it's almost always run only at the track, and not in backyards else neighbors start complaining a lot ??
Traxxas Revo 3.3

himank

u cant run a nitro in small space, nitro requires space before they actually catch some speed

T-maxx is good only for those who know how to drive properly, other wise t will break like hell, dont listen to trx guys, they will be obviously biased.
Try looking for guys who own it.

iamahuman

It is an OK car but I would suggest the slash 4x4.You'll be happier with an electric model.Nitros are pretty loud and need lots of maintenance and they are weaker compared to lipos+brushless.Get the slash instead.

@himank: Yup. I hope some owners post their experience here. You mean to say it has reliability issues ?

Right now its the Slash 4x4, will visit the shop tomorrow and HOPEFULLY make a deal :)

Good choice. You won't regret the money you spent.(unless something crazy is done with it.)

Its fragile compared to everything, but very fast.
SO if u know how to drive , its very nice, and since the engine is hard to tune, its not perfect fo beginner.
