Is the XT ESC lipo compatible?

No sir.

the esc can handle upto 8.4 volts and the 2s lipo is just 7.4volts

But the ESC does not have a LiPo cutoff. You can still use LiPos, but you're gonna need an external BEC or you're going to have to constantly monitor the voltage.

so that means that i cannot just directly connect the batt to esc and run it.

anyones got an external bec , i want to buy one locally

You can, but you run the risk of running your LiPo below 6volts. That could permanently damage your lipo.

You need an external Lipo module. Either a buzzer or a cutoff. LRP makes a BEC cum lipo cutoff module... A cutoff is safer because the buzzer can't be heard at all times.

Don't confuse a BEC with a lipo cutoff module. A BEC turns the voltage down to make it safe for the Rx. A lipo cutoff module measures voltage and cuts power off when the voltage goes below the LVC value...

When I was new to rc and got my sparrow xt and ran old lipo I ended up smoking the lipo. So mine din had one and I guess they all don't.

They were talking about the phoenix XT and not sparrowhawk XT. My bad

reason for selling -> actually bought it for my sparrowhawk xt but now that it does not have a lipo cut off  i have no other choice other than selling it
