Hey guys,

Recently, I found a really good deal online for a used sprint 2 which was selling super cheap . The car was more of a shelf queen although the previous owner had some mods on it.

Right now the S2 has a 35T Yokomo D1S motor attached to a 23 tooth pinion running the stock 87 tooth spur gear. The car had a busted front shock that I replaced. It goes fine and drifts alrite though I plan to put in a one way diff and increase the steering angle by carving out the C hubs and the knuckle arms to give me more angle to go into a drift.

I did not buy a new S2 because my original intention was to upgrade the S2 in time and at the same time learn about how it works.

My question is should I let the 35T motor in or should I just buy the 15T firebolt that it originally comes with and change the pinion to the stock 28 tooth configuration? Thus making the car bone stock. Is it any good to do this? Right now the car has very nice torque and low top end cause of the motor but I dont know how the firebolt will affect this as I have'nt played around with it. If not the firebolt then any other alternatives at or over 15T that the stock SC15 ESC would accept?

Also, any other servo that would replace the stock SF-10W cause it slooooow. I was looking at Hitec or savox but I've heard the savox has problems mounting on the stock mounts. What does a stabilizing capacitor do and why is it needed? Anything I need to do after installing the servo? or can I just remove the ball cap from the old servo arm and mount it on the new one?

Without going into too much technicality, are there any other mods that I should definitely be performing on this S2 to make it a better drifter? I am also going to upgrade the shocks to adjustable ones and I was looking at the TRF shocks but which ones to buy? short damper or the special damper?

I usually drift on asphalt and sometimes on carpet but mostly on asphalt, what tires should I go for? I already have a brand new set of HPI T Drift tyres that I can use, are those good enough or do I need some other types?

All this is actually overwhelming for me as I never really tried to get in so much detail with my trucks earlier but now I want to understand these dynamics and the role they play so I can end up building a better ride. Any help is appreciated.
