Hi All,
Does any one here use a camera on their cars? If yes which ones?
I am considering a few options. Let me know
Cheers!
I do FPV flying , tried a FPV set up on a Carisma Nissan Nizmo at home worked well.

yes, thats it. The only thing is it takes lot of memory. Like in my 4gb card, I can save 50min of video max before the space run out.
Battery life is about an hour, so its perfect. It gets charged by the usb. Plug and play, so no need of any driver or anything.
After me, all my fellow racers are getting one...to view the driver in-car view....must have for the price.
Here I am thinking of buying a GO-Pro for 18k and you guys show me a INR 1k 30fps camera!! Lucky I didnt commit on the GO-Pro.
I was going through various youtube videos and finally ordered the MiNi MD80 DV cam for 2.8k from Ebay Global, this might be perfect as a helmet cam too. The reviews are fantastic. I believe it has a Lipov powering it for non-stop 2.5hrs recording time, with 2Gigs of storage, upgradable upto 8gigs. Shoots videos at 30fps and the clarity of videos are crisp and outstanding in the dark too(source youtube vids ;D)
Here is how it looks http://www.gamedepot4u.com/images/mini%20dv/MiniDVtopbodyico3.jpg (http://www.gamedepot4u.com/images/mini%20dv/MiniDVtopbodyico3.jpg)
Guys, I finally received the Mini DVR, MD80. Shoots videos at 30.8fps, this I found while editing the video. I tested it on my helmet and was amazed by the video quality. Here's a link of the video

Yet to plonk it on the ST1/ST.
Guys, the Lipo doesnt seem to hold charge. What alternatives do you suggest? It says here on the manual that the Lipo is 3.7V. The cam is so darn small I cannot think of finding a replacement battery thats would fit into it.
:help:
Bumping this thread up. I stripped the camera to find these specifications printed on the LIPO
JU ZHAO
3.7V , 230mAh.
Apparently this is cheap China stuff which at case works or doest at all. Guys, I need a replacement battery, any thoughts, from where can I source it?

After a lot of looking around on the net and R&D found out this.
The bloody camera circuit does not operate below 3.6V. So all the useful volts below this is of no use.
The charging circuit either through USB or pin hole doesnt serve the purpose of charging the battery upto the true 4.2V. So the battery even though can retain charge (thats something I found out today) is not getting a proper recharge potential and charging current.
Even if the battery gets charged up, there is internal discharge happening as there is no switch to completely diconnect the battery from the PCB.
Solution: Sliced the battery leads soldered to the pcb. Brought out the leads and connected the battery leads to a 6V battery charger. For 5mins of charge the battery potential was at 3.8V (from 1.2V) and I got 23mins of video ;D (3.8V minus 3.6V = 0.2 v => 23mins)
The video being recorded is auto completed and the device shuts off at 3.6V.
So no need for a new battery or an external power source.
And I bought a wide angle lens for this camera. Will try to post a video once the battery gets a real charging routine ;)
Guys, here is the vid. Tomahawk ST with a custom tuned pipe.

I like the car cam.. How much is it and where did u buy it? I'm planning on buying one.. Btw your custom exhaust is a lot milder than the original one..
What do you mean by 'milder' ?
The original exhaust is very loud compared to your custom made one.. Where did you buy the camera?..

In the video it might sound mellow, but in real, I can assure you, it is Loud, I went deaf for a minute or so 8-) ! But thats not the point really, the perfomance boost from the exhaust is my target !
i simply use a cell phone...!
