A few of the recent hyped releases has brought this question to my mind. Some of the recent notable releases which has fueled this question:

1. HPI announces a 1/5 Scale electric when we want a 4WD Gasoline

2. Traxxas XO-1 when we want a 1/8 RTR race Buggy or Truggy from them

3. Kyosho DRX Fiesta nitro when the market is crying for a RTR electric version

4. HPI Apache C1, looks very nice and scale, but cannot beat Tamiya and Kyosho in scale realistic car

5. Unending versions of the Tamiya TT01 series. How long will they keep flogging the same horse?

But among the releases and announcements in 2011, I must note the following models were the most eagerly awaited by hobbyists:

1. Losi fiveT, just what the market wanted from a great manufacturer. Prices look high, but product will be awesome considering its from Losi. Look forward to a buggy version in the future to take on the MCD.

2. HPI Mini recon, they will give run for money for toy grade RC, with prices as expected, offer so much value. A cheap and crappy Maisto Baja is Rs 5000 in India. Best product for beginners and kids.

3. HPI Apache SC, opens up a new race class. Competition and company for the Associated SC8e.

4. Durango 1/8 Truggy. The Buggy was accepted really well. US market is crazy for Truggies

5. Hong Nor X3, it had to come. Else HN would have died a natural death. Look forward to see the X3 Truggy.

Can RC companies really play 'APPLE' making us think and want what we need next. Please post your comments and thoughts.

Well, they don't seem to be listening all that well.

Let's hope things change. Smaller companies are releasing products that people want. The same should be seen with the manufacturers...

i would really like it if HPI made all its cars waterproof!!.. this really helps maintain the car well. by the looks of it this does not take too much of engineering know how.\

Waterproof is not actually waterproof. You can still damage parts if you get water on it.
