Friends and Colleagues..
this is my next conversion of my cheap toy car, in to a super drifter + race car..totaly customized, and powered, she is an awesome machine..
added three electronic shift control, for normal drive, super fast drive and drift. placed two old tape recorder heads as sensors near wheels, and tiny metal piece attached to the wheel rim, gives the head a count, controls the motor traction..result,? ultimate control at all levels.by using coil windings near front wheel, braking is done, so the drifting is bieffed up a lots..
rated at 7.2 volts, she is a super machine..all colour sceheme are according to my imagination, represents the TEAM RC INDIA,and lots of imaginations is added..in my dream, this car is made by Maruthi Udhoyg, and pure Indian..and in to 4X4..
i started with reworked motor, to 9 volt spec at high RPM,but eats battery fast..
started painting with enamel paints by brush..
orange added..
showing intended ESC set up..it can handle up to 600 watts..
in close up..see how simple it is..
now nearing completion..
various angles..how nice she is..
its too easy to paint with brushes..all stickers are printed in an A4 paper..cut and paste..
she is not a baby..weighs about 1.5 kgs..without battery pack and i stripped nothing..but wooms...
so dont throw your rc cars..its too easy to convert..
yes..i shot nice videos..but have to edit it..and by tomorrow, i am planned to test its speed in real tarmac road, with my Garmin GPS sensor..so, video after that..will post..
hi mate.
wow.......that looks great .
be nice to see a video when running ..
regards
don
thank you Sunk Sir..sure editing the video..and today it showed 53 Km/ph, and planning to increase the rating of the ESC by 60%. so by tomorrow, test will be with 11.1 volts, 2500 mA LiPoly battery pack.. :hatsoff:
Hi Roopesh,
You r really great electronics guy, and car is looking cool,
and 53Km, wow nice achivement
are you using original gear assembly, or customized it also.
I havent tested mine yet but I m sure it is not even close to 53Km....
Gb..nothing is altered..in final drive, except motor..but added silicon grease a lots..and planning to add a good heat sink for motor for added power..and hope, she will rise above 53.. try with your car..and share us..:salute:
how to measue its speed ?? and how we can increase brushed motor effeciency .....(rework)
I am already running my present motor with 11.1 LiPo battry but discharge rate is only 8C
I am using following spec. ESC
Cont Current: 30A
Burst Current: 40A
and using 11.1v 2200mAh 8C LiPo Battry.
can you please calculate how much Watt I am using by my ESC for Motor, and how I can increase effeciency of Brushed motor.
What are the ESC Mosfets and the driver transistor (TO202 package) ? Does it working in Linear mode ?
Roopesh - forgive my skepticism but I could not make
out head or tail of what you just wrote in your first post.
I have a few queries -
1 - What is electronic shift control ? and how do you change from
one mode to another while driving - assuming you have a
transmitter - what control do you use ?
2. tape recorder heads - sounds ingenious - but as far as I recall
the tape has to actually physically contact the head - surely your
tyres are not physically contacting the head.
3. Could you show some close up pics - you have just
shown pics of a disassembled toy car drive assy and
some vague circuitry - how does it all hook up ?
did you make the circuit boards yourself or use from
other toys / tape recorders ?
is it a 4WD? Did u convert it to 4wd or by default it is?
Friends, its working on hybrid circuitry at present. means, with it's actual circuit, used only for continuous switching, and backed up by additional circuits.at present, i have to shift in to all 3 modes, with hand, by shifting the connection wire at bottom.its all simple by using three relays, controls the drive modes individually.but i am planning to change its circuitry in to a 6 channel radio,so i can shift with flick of a switch.
tape heads are used here as magnetic sensors. and it need not any direct contact with material.the energized supply from pre amp is fed to a simple circuit, prevents relay from triggering.holds the motor circuit under control.
in reality, in the shift controls , this is happening. at normal drive the first relay only gives a light voltage to motor, can adjust with preset. at drift mode the full supply is fed to motor. and the braking circuit will not work.at fast mode, the third relay energizes, giving pulse based output to motor.
i am still working on this same one, for more extreme performance..and will post all photographs and descriptions as i progress..
Krish..its not 4X4..i placed the sticker only to beautify her..its based on back wheel differential..
see my first video here, is based on 7.2 volts, with braking assistance..without blipping the throttle..

hi mate.
that looks realy good..........
sounds like the motor is hardly working at all there......should be very fast on open ground.
good control too :) :) :)
very smart car.
regards
don
thank you Sunk Sir..and yes it is controlled precisely, by ETC, all the time so unwanted over under steering is avoided. by now, i rewound a second motor, in to high specs, rated at 12 volts, 8 Amps, and waiting to dry the insulation varnish..will add an even more powerful ESC and shift control, and i am planning to use my 6 channel HK radio on it. i will post all the photographs, and works here, after my speed test, until i am not willing to pluck it off..
Saikat, your answers..sorry for the delay..i have ample of project works now..valuable time..ok..
a shift control in an race vehicle means, either gear shifting, or Electronic Traction Control.in gear shifting a magnetic switch, or a mechanical gear srevo box, assists the gear selection, according to the wheel spin ratio, engine RPM, and traction value sensed by sensor. in an electronic traction control system, an oil bath turbine will employs, most of the time, and it will be routed in many ways, and connected even with ICU, EMU.so unwanted power wastage will be avoided..it will not possible to explain whole here as it is a huge subject with ample of sub subjects.
in my car, nothing is related to real engineering but purely on based on my imaginations and experience. here my shift control means, that i can drive the car in a very soft way, in tarmac, or even on marble, and with a flick of the first switch, it will changed to high speed characteristics, gave me a instant speed gain all the time. in this mode no any assistance will take place as the car is intended to run in a straight line.
then the third switching, in for pure traction control, is achieved by two magnetic coils, along with magnetized metal strips, within the drum of the front wheel, backed up by a tape head as a rotation sensor, is placed on wheel axis, and a magnetized metal piece added to the shaft will give a pulse. so the pulse will amplified to desired level, and given to a band pass filter, filters all unwanted audio noises, then feeds to a pulse counter, based on IC 555. out put from both heads are feded to both channels of a stereo pre amp, and two out put from pre amp is feed to a independent pulse counter. so the pulse counter activates the relay according to my settings, gives a whole assistance in need to avoid high over and under steering and motor traction control. i will post all used circuits, except, my hand made proportional servos, here, as my speed test over. now its not possible to pluck it off..so hard works..sleepless nights..
It sound awsome, so when you are posting its running video ?
adding some previous photographs of the ETC..can see the winding, is based around 5 volts, and can see the magnetized metallic strips all around the inner drum.
and the head is placed and painted in mat black, to disguise it..
and in place..the only head ache that i feel with the ribbon wires..aren't good quality..but it will last up to my speed test..
now the second question..." tape recorder heads - sounds ingenious - but as far as I recall
the tape has to actually physically contact the head - surely your
tyres are not physically contacting the head." so you are absolutely right..??? NOOO..you are very wrong..i was making, still making electric guitars, for my friends, and students, with tape heads as pick ups..it gave us a very Hi Fi proportional stereo outputs all the while. a AMORPHOUS type head gives even more output. a METAL head also play a good role..here i am posting some pictures and a good video, for you..
i am using tape heads as sensors even on my GUN BARREL STABILIZER, as ventral and lateral...precisely..
the figure 6 and seven shows a toy wheel, attached to a gear box via a ESC, and taped to a battery to avoid displacing..you can see a magnetized metal strip is attached to the rim of the wheel, to face with head..
next figures showing a tape recorder itself, and removed head with simple wires..then the power amp, with an euqlizer to alter the frequency..
showing the tiny woofer and power supply..now experiments begins..
you can see i placed the head near to the wheel, facing to the mettalic strip, not in contact, but still pics up the energy.we can feed this pulse after filtering it, and can use for any purpose..
where..? yes no photos..but you must watch this video..i shot this for you.. :hatsoff:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Zf4XRcyNlY
so can use this pulse after filtering for any needed purpose..encoding..decoding..sensing..pulse..detection..traction..braking..control..speed base motor control..follows.. :salute:
no any some thing circuits will work..but it must be precise..so i will post all used circuits on this car after full work, and after my speed test..with new motor..sure..
Kalyan..we can use any MOSFET or PT, according to our needs and i never sticks on on one..but always puts a safer margin above the actual needs..
Roopesh - very nice
keep it up
Sai..never consider my postings as boasting, or rage or demo..was sharing my knowledge..and may be this is why, my native people always call me as "Vattu Case" means mad guy..but sad to hear that..as modellers we must go far beyond our imagination and creativity..maximum..giving up..its not our option..i will add a good video of my song play, with my hand made guitar, used the tape heads as pickups..its too nice..
Hi Roopesh,
I am wating for your car video, 53Km. Please post that video ..

Hi Roopesh,
Its not seems 53Km/h, how you have measured its speed ??
Gb, its not a speed test video. its first drifting video.speed was tested on our old unused strip, but was poor surface, and speed was measured by Garmin, GPS. waiting to take her to a nice ground, after fixing the new motor, and rated at 11.1 volts, 2500 mA. hope fly..
so its not run @ 53Km/h,...please correct me if I am wrong... ??? ..Also tested mine outside...and dont know its speed...but it run good (:|~.

Gb..its very appreciable effort, indeed.. :thumbsup:and she ran over 53 Km/Ph. but the ground clearance of my car is too low.so she slows up now and then as she dribbles over the stones. and the 7.2 volts battery was running out fast. but now, i replaced with new reworked motor, added two high amp, relays, all with 11.1 volts 2500 mA LiPoly battery.waiting for my friends, to cover the video, and GPS, but looking for a good ground, within 100 meters at least.after that i will check it with twin brus hless..need a little time..
