Title: King Motors baja in India by RCskyhobby
Post by: traxxrc1 on October 29, 2011, 09:52:03 AM
KM Bajas are back in india. Rcskyhobby has been selling the updated versions of the KM baja with the latest radio and servos. Pricing is a little higher from the previous versions but that may be justified because the newer versions have updated servos and radio.
They are available for 45k for 23cc and 58.5k for 29cc.

Good  for those who wnated  a baja but were short on budget.

This is the biggest review thread of km
http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_7249314/tm.htm

From what i have seen
New versions of KM are almost equal in quality to hpi and quite cheap also, except a few things like
Tires wear out quick
Clutch wears down easily
Cannot use parts from HPI differential and put on KM differential
High response clutch springs will not fit the KM clutch
Shocks  need to be rebuilt out of the box

I don't feel anything above 40k is worth for a clone. Clone is a clone and never equate in quality to the original. Parts are not interchangeable and no support is available . So anyone who says its same as HPI and from same factory is faking it.

Hpi Baja itself is a slowly slipping class due to 4WD releases.

KM are improving every year, their newest versions with the GT3 radios and a ton of other mods are a lot better, plus the newer plastics are also very less brittle compared to the older versions.

ok. I went to see the latest models of km at the store and they were a lot different from  my expectations. They  are the updated version and the weak points that i had mentioned above have infact been totally removed with newest parts and upgrades. Moreover the radio was really awesome, probably the best value for money offer for all those who cant afford an hpi.

Post some details pics. Love to see what has been updated. The KM baja and clones of the KM are in almost every LHS in US. With new releases going closer to the 1600$ mark, these clones sell well. Makes sense for that "not so serious hobbyist".

Arpit, I think two stroke engines are under extinction. (Only some old vehicles are having it) So getting the 2T oil may be difficult. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Yes and no, most vehicles are 4 stroke these days so no 2T but for some unknown reasons petrol stations still have those oils with them anytime, and not just one or two,but every station has them, so its not a problem atleast here in north.
And there are still hundreds of scooters and auto rickshaws which are still 2-T
