Hey fellow rc racers :)
Long time since i posted in this forum ..
But despite this i have been following the forum on and off. :salute:
Well after months of researching, reading forums and youtubing its finally boiled down to these 3 cars for me ..
1) Team losi 8ight 2.0 rtr (b'coz its a losi ,but i am not too sure of the parts availability here in mumbai ??.)
2) hpi d8s rtr ( parts easily available .)
3)Thunder tiger EB4 s3 (only reason to go with this is because the local hobby shop is really close by. Thou i have my doubts with ttr as a brand ?? I mean wats the wear and tear on this kit ??? N e one?
My main intention is racing rather than bashing ..
Budget too is not too much of an issue .. Something in the range of 40k to 50k.
Now what i need from you guys is ur opinions on the three cars ???
The outcome from this discussion will be my buy...
Thanx in advance n keep em engines churnnin ... :hatsoff:
Losi. The RTR D8s has lower end equipment( servos, radio).
The 8ight comes with a DX3S if I'm not mistaken. It's not the last word in good radios but is good enough. The 8ight backs its price up with performance. Dogbone racing is the dealer for Losi in India.
If you have 50k to spend, why bother with TT and others, get the Losi provided you need all the equipment that comes along. Not the best equipment, but works well. Nice RTR package. Last time, I checked, prices were also below your Budget.
I am surprised you mentioned about all D8 parts availability. Did you check or did someone tell you? No distributor can or will stock all spares. I know 2 or 3 who carry the most commonly required parts. Check on availability with others and you will draw a blank. If you have a rc car in India, be prepared to import or wait endlessly for parts.
Hey guys , sorry for the delay in reply ..
I guess losi was always my first choice but just wanted ur opinions ..
Ajo sir , when u say

I have read on some other forums that the losi 8 by default has servo horns tat wear off pretty fast..

So that means i have to call for parts from international hobby shops .. Meaning import from amain, towerhobbies etc ..
Btw how long does it take for the shipping to come to india ..
More than the horns, the starter box conks off soon. Luckily there is a mod and distributor keeps spares. Also the radio antenna is the weakest around and the skin peels off on the slightest impact. But overall great package for a beginner.
Importing from Amain costs but is easy. I usually ship to US location and either someone or I carry it back.
Ok people'z :)
Its done , things are decided ..
Hong Nor x3 sabre kit it is .. For me . (:|~
Already placed order with Mr.Murali of Joy Rising Hobbies ..
Dying to get it ... 8-)
Also placed order for sanwa / airtronics mt4 remote.
Just a bit confused on the engine
Most probably its gonna be an Alpha z852 , or s852 ..
Open to suggestions for other accessories .. :hatsoff:
i would suggest the z852 as its more suited as a buggy engine than a s852 which is more for truggy. the power delivery of z852 is perfect for buggy according to alpha engine users.
get a ofna starter box . and savox/hitec/futaba servos. atleast 1600 mah rx packs, and g good set of tools.
Okie ..
That what even Mr. Murali of JRH hobbies suggested ..
What is a good toolkit to invest in...
I am thinking of getting a Bosch cordless screwdriver too .
What all bit sizes will i be needing for the Hong Nor X3 kit..
Where you getting the radio from?
i think RCD
