So, I come back from school today, to find out my 2 week wait is over... My RC18T2/B2 team kit is here!! ;D ;D
Here are the 1st pics I took...
Now this is my 1st build so if you people see anything wrong, just point it out...
Congrats ! Looking forward to the build and maiden.
Please post the source :) It may help others !
Awesome. Go ahead and build it and make your school mates jealous.... Got the power unit, radio & batteries?
I have the bigger Associated brother, RC8B. I wanted to get the RC8T also, but decided against having 2 Associated fellows at home. So got the Jammin X2.
@mail4ajo
Nope not yet... Gonna buy that after I complete the build...
Is it really hard to build?

Is that just the manufacturer link, or the place where you bought it from ? Looks significantly cheaper than the MSRP at the link you posted : http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_info.php/products_id/168338/n/Team-Associated-RC18T2-B2-Truck-Buggy-Team-Kit
Just wondering.
Congrats buddy.
How much did it cost you?
@Siddhu
Thanks! I will
@Anwar
The MSRP of a product is usually higher than the street price.. I think.
I bought it from 20north which was a little lot more expensive, but saves the hassle of customs and other things...
@Rajathv8
Thanks! It cost me a little over 9k after shipping and customs etc....
I did a little today...
The 1st pic is of the belt tensioner ( The little silver thing ) on the chassis...
The 2nd pic is of the Front and rear diffs...
The 3rd pic is of the steering turnbuckles ( If that's what they are called )
The 4th pic is of my total progress so far...
Now, this is my 1st build so if you people find something wrong please tell me...
And I'm also having a great deal of trouble getting e-pins onto the shock shafts :help:
Will post a pic up later when I get time...

That is a good price, if you consider shipping charges etc from external shops like Amain.
u got it frm 20North?? i was a lil skeptical abt placing orders with them.9k is good price.
its not the steering turnbuckle, its the ackerman plate and the bell cranks.... the links with the threaded units and ball sockets on either ends would be he turnbuckle.
do let u knw wat electronics u wud be using...
siddharth
Sorry guys it was 11k not 9k... It was 9 k duty free...
Anyways, I'm almost done!! Just gotta glue the tires, mount them and its a roller!!!
Umm I need help in a couple of things.... 1st I need help getting the e-clips on to the shock shafts... Also I need to trim the body... I cut myself trying to trim it on my own... Is there any easy way to do it?
TA-DAH!! ;D ;D
@Siddhu911:
Hoping to put in a sidewinder micro if its available in India, stock servo, prob an erc 2.4 or a used fm from mail4ajo
Nice buddy, But I am unhappy to see the belt drive and star screws. Maybe to keep the cost down. Anyways look forward to the complete kit. Do you have paint to finish the body?
Thanks!! Yeah maybe but it doesn't really matter to a beginner like me...
No do you know any place I can buy the paint in India? Skeptical to get it from outside because its flammable...
hi. paints is an issue.... its impossible to ship... u can try the bosny spray cans.. they wrk fine... but tryy them out on a piece cut out frm the whell wells....
for trimming use a pair of scissors with a very short blade... its easy to move around corners and chances of getting hurt are less...
its unlikely to get sidewinder here....go for amainhobbies... its good...
belt drive is good for this size vehicle as it keeps the weight down and reduces mechanical losses... but the chances of getting dirt in between the pulleys and the belts...but not a real issues with body on.
@Siddhu911: I'l try... I prefer getting all the components in India itself so I can't order from amain... Will a 380 sized brushless motor fit?
Also I can't do it with a scissors also...
@mail4ajo: You built a Baja 5B, right? How did you trim the body? And where did you get paints?
it has to be done with scissors or a craft knife... scissors work well.. get a good metal one... a 380 size shld fit..
Paints cant be shipped from abroad. I can get you some Tamiya can or Pactra airbrush paints. Tell me which colors you want. I have some with me. The Baja body was luckily trimmed. I havent painted it since I dont want to spoil it by goofing up, just stickered it.
Would you happen to have black or blue? Tamiya spray because I don't have an airbrush system..
Hey Congrats Divyam. Keep up the spirit.....

any ideas on the paint scheme?
Ummm not yet... Planning to paint the truggy body in 1 colour because its my 1st body and I'm gonna paint the buggy body a cool scheme!
a simple paint scheme with simple atripel will look striking when right colours are chosen. like the baja in the pic. simple but looks awesome with those contrasting colours. the stripe on the sides can be made simpler. just an example
simple paint scheme with stripes in contrasting colours look good with less work. the baja in this pic for example (save the stripes on the side)
That's all right but I need the paints first!
Also, I need help getting the E-Clips on to the shock shafts... :help:
Hey congrats on the new car.
For trimming the body, you would need a hobby curved lexan scissor. These ones specially have curved cutiing edge so u can move around corners and bends easily. Cutting with one of those is real real easy. You won't ever go wrong.
Hey guys I'm back from a trip to Mysore!
Now to get back to the car...
xplosify, where would I get these in India? How much would they cost?
Hey do you think this motor would fit my car?
http://www.jackshobbies.in/products_big.aspx?imgid=898
Just received the motor, ESC and battery... Post pics up soon...

Good luck Divyam.. I was nice meeting you on sunday. Next we shall race together ok ?
You too! Wait till I get a brushless motor >:D (already have the ESC).. Then we shall race!!
Oh, so you did not get to run your car.Sorry I could not be there.Hope to race with you soon too.How could you guys run your cars after the rain?Is it indoor?
So that small little car at the race was yours? :)
I wasn't there for the race but for the lap time I was able to run half a lap before my battery died...
But a really small 18 th scale car is coming!
So,do you mean that the track was so big, or your baterries weren't charged completely when you went there?
Oh my battery was charged... I just got a new radio so I was setting it up and the NiMH battery ran out!! Besides I gotta change the motor...
what is the capacity?In what time did you kill it?My traxxas will come with a 3000 mah battery pack.Any idea what my run time will be on low throttle usage.
My batt is about 2400 mah and it's way over 500 cycles old... So it's probably lost a lot of it's capacity... I killed it in about 7 mins...
With a 3000 mah you should get about 13-15 mins...
oh ok.thanks.
Divyam can you provide info on the power system that you bought?
Its a 25A ESC, and a 2s 2200MaH 25c LiPo. Still haven't got the motor. The motor I got in the combo was a 130 sized can. Too small to fit in the car.
Cool. Hope to see the little fellow running soon :)
