Small rocks getting stuck below the spur gear is an issue. Happence once every two times i take the truck out.

Divyam

Similar problem on the Slash. Not the spur, but inside the chassis. 1 place that's really annoying is inside the groove for the driveshaft. This way the driveshaft MAY be prone to bending and LOTS of scratches.

Yup. Since the drivetrain is 'sealed', all the stuff that gets in stays there... and eats the drivetrain for dinner. ;D

We do have our solutions...

Fix a small plastic sheet at the bottom. or may be CF..
I'll be back.

Update and observations:

1. The mod to the shock cups : using tape has worked quite well. Many ditches and bangs later no leaks to report. The caps however do leak oil - nothing to worry too much about though.

2. The rear wing had been damaged. It gets torn if you crash 20-30 times in reverse :D . Not an issue again because the rear wing in plastic costs just about 300 and is available locally.

3. The parts support keeps me happy. Parts are just a phone call away and they are cheap :)

4. There is a lag in the steering servo. Will not be a problem for bashing but serious racers will have an issue. A serious racer would'nt but this truck in the first place :D

5. It comes with quite a number of ball bearings - two for each wheel hub, 4 in the front diff and 3 on the rear diff, two for the steering column, one on the slipper clutch. 18 in all :) Would be nice if someone could explain why bushings are needed in the diff?

6. As far as i know the ESC does not have a lipo cutoff so it would be better to have an external cutoff.

7. Tyre is not bald yet. Frankly i didnt expect it to last this long.

8. When i adjust steering trim when the tx is bound to the rx the truck starts moving without throttle. This has happened twice (2 out of 20). Seems like the ESC forgets the neutral position.

9. Bump steer has reduced after i fiddled with the toe-in.

Good info there......

Would love to meet you and race you...

We should all meet up! Its been quite long! :)

TT should have included an LVC with their brushless system. Does the MT4 G3 have an LVC?

hey rajath,

according to a few reviews i read and the TT site, the ESC included with the XXT has a built-in Lipo cutoff.

will confirm this and get back. and according to the site it can handle upto 3S.

Btw the Bigsquid review says that the sparrowhawk XXT comes with metal shock caps????

We should....

The website doesn't say anything about an LVC.... :-\

scroll down to the table.

the input voltage for both NiMH and lipo is clearly given seperately.

i guessed they would not have given that seperately if it did not have an LVC inbuilt. i could be wrong though. TT might not have the common sense that we do :P

http://www.bigsquidrc.com/thunder-tiger-110-sparrowhawk-xxt-review/

and even in the final score section of the bigsquid review they dont mention the need for an LVC. but they used 3s Lipo.

I'm pretty sure its not a 3s capable ESC. I think Arpit said that. Arpit, can you confirm? :)

Ajith i checked online but did not find any info about the LVC. Please let me know if you find out :) Yup it does come with aluminum shock caps but it leaks slightly. May need a top up once in 10 runs or so but its not a major problem :)
On http://www.tiger.com.tw/product/8060.html the "features" are of the motor :D Blooper :D If im wrong the ESC has "dual ball bearings shaft support" :D

I am planning on getting an external lipo cutoff. Any suggestions for this from within the borders?

Waiting for the lipo setup to work safely before heading to the track. :)

ajit4647

haha i just saw the features part. maybe thats wrong. but if u see the top headers in the table in the introduction part they say ESC. and theinput voltage is mentioned as 7.4-11.1v

and in the optional parts list there is a program card, and when u click on the image it has 4 settings

1. auto
2. nicd
3. lipo 7.4v
4. lipo 11.1v

as for the external lipo cutoff, Jayanth has one from LRP which is both a Lipo cutoff and a BEC. i am currently using that on my summit.

If Jayanth has any LRP BEC cum LVC's, you can get those. Or else you have this. I guess it should work. Not sure if you can hear the alarm going off during a race :P

an alarm might not be the best idea. getting caught up in the excitement at the track might make the alarm a bit hard to notice.

btw why dont u try getting hold of a lipo voltage checker. see if u can get ur hands on an old 2s lipo. hook it up to the car. run it around a bit. keep checking the voltage from time to time.

see if it goes below 6 volts overall. that would determine if it has an LVC or not. and since you would keep checking it from time to time. it should not be a problem carefully charging the lipo back from 2.9 or so volts. i did it once, when one of my friends lipos got accidently discharged to 2.8 volts.

@Ajit: I really wouldn't suggest discharging a lipo cell below 3.2V. Reviving one is pretty simple but the pack has to be monitored closely on every charge and discharge. At the slightest hint of heat, the pack has to be disposed of.

ajit4647

Yup :-)

I take care with mine.

My friend forgot to switch his lvc on. And his got discharged.

Thats why i suggested getting an old lipo for rajath. Incase he cant determine whether it has a lvc or not, he can test it and dispose of the lipo.

In racing, I don't think a 5000 mah lipo will die out with a 10 minute main. On their first run, my cells came off the track at 3.7V after 10 minutes of crazy driving. This was its first cycle and it wasn't even fully charged :o. I'd love to see how it does on a full charge. Best part, it cost 35$!!!

Hehe niiice.

As u saw in the emaxx post. I picked up a set of turnigy and zippy 2s.

Getting pretty good runtimes and they always are perfectly balanced. Really happy even if they are considered to be on the cheaper side of lipos.

Is it something related to shock leaking on jumps..?
If yes,did u managed to find any successful tip for this prob?

Thanks for all your inputs guys :)

Ajith i have the lipo voltage checker. Its nice and handy but checking voltages regularly is cumbersome. Awesome observation about the programming card! Didnt notice that - il check with the TT dealer about the card - if it is within price range il buy it :)

Gandhar my friend has the lipo beep-beep device but his didn't work well and the beeps were not audible.

Arpit the shock mod i was talking about is the shock cup - it would pop out often with the o-rings and all the oil would leak out. A fellow XXT owner told me this happens due to lateral force on the cups itself and not the internal oil pressure. So i secured the shock cup with tape and no leaks since. You can also use shrink wrap. Hope this helps.

EDIT:
The programing card manual said the LVC can be set for different batteries so that means it does have a LVC built into it.
There must be some way of doing the switch without the programing card. Need to search it out. :)
