Nice to hear you finally got your truck running :) Pics and Vids :)

@ajo: Will do that.

@ shashank : i need a camera man for pics and vids. Will post soon :)

The connector on the car is fine. The battery one is loose. The second pack fits fine.

rajathv8

Dorve it again. Love this thing :D

They have cleaned the rain water drain here and dumped the mud on the road. There are hardly any houses on this side of the road so the sutff from the drain is just silt and not the mucky usual stuff. Had an awesome time running it on road and dirt (divyam you were right. Kicking up dirt was all i was doing :D).

Coconut oil is still in the shock :D

The tyres seemed ok on dirt. Maybe i didnt notice cos im a newbie.

PS: Gandhar thanks a ton for stopping me from getting a brushed car! :)

i didnt have shock oil so i used coconut oil

Is coconut oil thick enough? I mean, wouldn't it leak? Somebody said that clutch fluid is ok for these shocks. I've never tried it, but its definitely cheaper than Shock oil and easily available.
Terrain? If I cant Slash it, I'll Savage it!!

I am not sure if Coconut oil will be able to give the viscocity Silicon oils can. It will wear the shafts and offer no damping, change to silicon shock oil. Available at JRH hobby/Modelart

where do u get thse tips from?

From nowhere except own experience, lost the front shock cups on the first run/bash/horseplay itself. I solved it using washers and still looking for the spare cups.

rajathv8

Haha true Divyam. :)

Sure Sheshank. If not this sunday definately after my exams :)

Tassem the coconut oil ok for now as i am not bashing too much. No it does not leak. And you mean RC car clutch fluid or real car fluid?? :D

Ajo its not as good as silicon but this is what i has so gave it a shot. Its not too bad either gives about 60% damping as the other shocks. Will change to shock oil as soon as  get it.

There is a shop near my place that sells automobile lube oil. He has many varities - i used few on my bike. They are of different viscosity. Will give them a try.

Need to get:
1. Shock oil.
2. Tread lock (dont know where from)
3. Body clips

ANTA ji you have saved me a shock cup today. Do you have any other tips? Please share :)

@Divyam ,Gandhar and ANTA: You guys have another one. Mr.Satish whom i bougght the truck from has just purchased a 4x4 slash :D

Hey is it not possible to get Silicon Oil from other local sources? I've seen quite a few specialist stores dealing in different types of oils for automotive/machine use. I'm not talking about just branded and sealed containers but also those Barrels. Would they have stock of Silicon Oil?

If somebody could explain the more commonplace (in india) uses of silicon oil, we can get it cheap from such sources..

Rajath: I meant the clutch oil in 1:1 cars :) Thread lock is available at RCdhamaka IIRC..

Thanks Tassem. Will need the thread lock ASAP. Cant afford to fabricate another screw. Too much work and the small size makes your palm hurt!!!

Hey congrats on getting ur car running.

waiting for vids.  ;D

i have a suggestion for the video taping. in case u are using a phone. the stock ace rc transmitter has a nice flat back and u can zip tag the phone there. wont get great quality but it might do the job.  :) till u get urself a cameraman.

and as for the threadlock u can get it in any hardware store.

Great work Rajat  {:)} .I'm sure you will enjoy your car.Dying to meet you. :) Nice to see so many DIY mods. You have inspired me to do more work on my slash 4x4.Thanks. :) And I'm happy I got you on the brushless boat  ;D.(Tassem.........you're the only nitro head left  8-) .Shashank is looking for an electric car too 8-) )

Great to see Mr.Ganesan got a slash as well.I spoke to Murli some days ago and found out why he is a good guy.It seems he hangs out with Murli and Ajo.One more reliable member on the forum.

Thanks Ajith. Thats a good idea. Will give it a shot :)

Hey Gandhar, you have 1500 posts :)
Yup did a lot today. Very convenient to test mods immediately as hardly any vehicles pass by on my cross-road and neighbours are good - well doesnt matter cos its electric. :D

Want to try it on track but thats going to take time :(

First priority is the thread lock.
Also i need to adjust the front right tyre - it has a toe out.  dont have the turnbuckle wrench though. Does it come with the stock XXT?
Need to adjust the camber on all tyres.
I run it on loose mud so the tyre gets covered with dust - then i run it on concrete in a straight line. Easy to find out which part of the tyre touches the ground predominantly as this part becomes clean - dust gets removed due to contact with concrete.

Divyam

Yes, it comes with the kit.. Atleast I got mine with every kit I've had, and 1 of them is a lower model.. So it should come with yours as well..

It took me 4 months to realize that the "piece of metal which looks like a tool" was a turnbuckle wrench used to adjust camber and toe. :-[  :D

He was looking for a slash sometime back. Nonetheless, we will not be parting with our nitro's. I am buying an electric because of the experiences i've had running my truck near my house. Nitro's are for all those track days and electrics for everyday fun. we get the best of both worlds ;D

I got only one the tools iv posted in the pics. I should get one for myself. Dont want to wear the tyres out too much.

Should any of the parts be lubed?? Not sure cos if i oil any part it will accumulate a lot of dust so didnt do anything.

ajit4647

thats something unavoidable. even if u oil the parts just make sure that its just a light layer. and the only way is to clean it up after use.

and oh as for the tires. the stock tires on my phoenix and the meant for off road tires on my maxx are not faring that well on road.

the maxx tires are getting small cuts while the phoenix tires are pretty much bald. and most of my phoenix use was on road. very little off road.

Hmmm.... thanks for that. Will restrict on road use from now. Have an idea as to what that looks like - Divyans bald phoenix tyres. :D

What parts do i oil?

ajit4647

to be honest i dont oil anything. after use i just clean it up and spray WD-40 on all the joints.
