Hi guys,

i have been thinking of building an R/C RWD truck for some time now and was wondering how may are into R/C car building n stuff apart from planes  :)

sahil

Today might be a great and wonderful day. It depends on you.

Hi sahil,

Do you think that you can use Same radio system (used in rc plane) will be enough for Rc cars?

sahilkit

yes one can but one also has to note/see that there are no RC fliers on the same band or frequency!   :argue: which might spell disaster for the plane flier  :violent: apart from this i don't see any reason why RC plane transmitter cannot be used for RC cars in fact i'm going to do that! use my 10ch radio for cars  >:D

Have you seen the special type of Tx used for RC cars??? What is the difference If we use the Tx of RC plane instead of it??? - Asking to know the difference...

sahilkit

generally car transmitters are of two types pistol n stick and i don't think there is much difference may be one or two features! and yes i have used a RC car transmitter (stick n pistol) but not the high end super expensive radios  ;)

you know the stuff like making the chassis, transmission, universal joints, axle, suspension parts etc etc !

apart from the frequency one can use the plane tx for basic control like forward, reverse, left right, servo EPA, servo reversing, expo n such stuff, lights on off, accessories control etc !

may be the Pro RC cars guys can answer your question more correctly ;D

Look up the rc18 series... They have a factory team kit (lotta upgraded parts)
They are 4wd... Much better than 2wd...

I have to ask again :)  "Making" ?  Do you mean like actually machining the parts ? Or scavenging suitable parts from your environment ?  Or just build from a commercially available kit ?

you generally cant use a plane tx for car use as the plane tx does not have
a self centering left stick (throttle)

i.e airplane engines / motors are setup only to run in forward - so the
throttle stick travel from endpoint to endpoint controls only the speed from
dead stop/idle to full speed in one direction.

car tx throttle on the other hand (either wheel or stick) are spring loaded
to return to neutral - so neutral is dead stop/idle - push forward for proportional
forward speed and pull backward for proportional reverse speed.

Actually it is not a huge issue on "plane" radios with ratcheted throttles (as opposed to heli ones which are smooth).  Not as convenient as the spring loaded ones or the pistol grip ones, but usable.  My brother uses an old/simple Esky 4ch radio (which was part of an ARF kit) that way quite often, although he has a pistol grip one (guess it is about buying additional receivers).

i'm planing on using the elevator/aileron sticks on the radio Mode2

Sahil,

You could make a circuit to do that on the receiver throttle channel. A simple micro could do the job. I am sure you know what I am saying. On the mechanical centering you could change the spring/ratchet to the throttle. A quick and dirty way is to hook the throttle to the elevator channel and use the throttle right handed. If you still need left hand throttle hold the transmitter upside down  ;D ;D. 2.4GHz antenna is small anyway and would not poke you,. ;D

BTW, all the best on the build. Do keep us posted.

or i can just use the extra hard spring set i got with the radio  ;D
