hi
after getting no response on ( http://www.rcindia.org/cars/is-any-one-running-building-114-truck-trailors/) this thread I have decided to build my own truck and bought my Knight Hauler kit with MFU 01 along with radio ( NO trailor at the moment as this purchase has already left a big hole in my pocket which will take some time for me to get mended :banghead: :banghead: :giggle: :giggle: :giggle:)
will start my work this week end but surly will be slow progress but will try my best to keep posting pics of the build and keep this thread alive.
suggestions / comments welcome
hope to report back soon
regards
puneet
Best of luck buddy
thanks Doc,i would be needing more of your good wishes.

Cool, Puneet! Good luck :D
at last manage to start work on my truck last night
decided to do the chassis along with suspension first followed by differential and then 3 speed gear box
initially was bit unsure by looking at so many small parts required at each stage but thankfully manual detailing is great and started of quite smoothly.
attached are the few pictures of work done so far.
chassis assembly digitals
will be doing suspension assembly tonight lets see how it shapes up

Why are you planning to use a 4ch aircraft radio with the truck?
Are the leaf springs plastic? They look cool. :)
I believe it's to use other complicated functions of the truck. Tamiya makes highly detailed models and these take the cake.
Great build Puneet. What kind of power system are you planning?

that is the recommended set up by Tamiya and 4ch is a must if you are putting MFU set up. this set up produces different truck sounds including startup revering hooter and different light option and yes suspension leafs are metallic
thanks

I would be using stock motor with MFU which has a inbuilt ECS and would be putting in a 7.2V 2200mAh LiFe battery but yes later I am planning to put a faster motor
thanks
todays progress card
few more
did some wet sanding on body parts.as I am very well aware of my limitation about handling paint jobs decided to take help of my good friend Neeraj for the job he is the main force behind this built and MFU installation and is more excited to see this finished then I am {:)} {:)} {:)} :salute: :salute: :salute: :hatsoff: :hatsoff: :hatsoff:

I doubt this model requires a faster motor. The attention to detail in this model is spectacular! :)

My home work about faster motor is not complete but i have read at few forums that this possible but my focus at the moment is to get it going all upgrading will be phase ll of this built
today's update
more {:)} {:)} {:)}
complete assemble
yesterday I got on to the most difficult part so far in the assemble process of this truck THE MFU installation but was manage to get through with it after bearing a few dirty glares from wife and kids ( did not went out with them even after being at home :giggle: :giggle: :giggle: ) but the result is quite encouraging
here are the few glimpses of it.
its not very neat but I am sure on improving the wiring once it is installed completely
Sure is a lot of wires ;D ;D
sanjay sir will have to wait till fitting starts, at that point they will be properly tied with zip ties
finished painting job last night
had to change the plan as initially thought of making a color scheme but as painting progressed realized that its not giving the desired results so decided to stripe the originally painted colors and return back to single color paint this time result was good
the entire process took over 3 days to get completed.
after painting started light assemble work which is almost complete after this have to put up front grill and exhaust which hopefully should be able to complete tonight
Nice. Love the paint job
ha ha ha sanjay sir it took me over 3 days to get to this :hatsoff: :hatsoff: :hatsoff: but yes I am also liking it
finally through with it {:)} {:)} {:)}
special word of thanks for Neeraj who has been main source of strength and has helped me at all critical areas of this built specially MFU setting and final fittings
now the wait has started for trailer which is at customs at the moment
please feel free to give comments about this built
WOW!
finally wait is over for the trailer
received it last night and immediately opened it to start the work
got the lights along with it
lets see how it shapes up
cheers

Very nice build. Love the paint job {:)} {:)}
mean while few more pics of Knight hauler patiently waiting for its trailer
last night managed to put up shock absorbers on chassis
here is the details of the assemble procedure
chassis with shocks
Looks awesome!
How was the 'fit and finish' of the parts?
Puneet, I suggest using Loctite 242 threadlocker on critical fasteners so they don't get loose (in case you haven't ;))

PERFECT is the word and the way they have elaborated every step in manual is amazing. its like some one is sitting in front of you and telling you what to do and how to do
its simply amazing

with this update its close to completion as only attachment to the truck is pending
I have decided to skip the lighting part for the trailer at the moment as I have some thing in mind for which material is on its way to me from different locations and will take almost 10 days to reach me plus built time
so here we go
the final look
Wow! :goodjob:
Don't forget to write "Buri nazar wala, tera muh kala" :giggle: :giggle:
Or better still:

"Put jattan da, driver truckan da"
Ha ha ha Sanjay sir planning to put nimbu mirchi on front and black paranda at the back

@puneet: Did you buy the kit from tamiyausa or aliexpress? Just wondering how much did it cost you and the shipping time. Tamiya tractor trucks start at 23k but are always out of stock iin India!!
I am a big fan of their hydraullics!! :)
Edit: My bad for digging up an year old thread..

hi
its always fun to revisit out achievements
I bought every thing from tower hobbies and coasted a bomb to me
I took few items from Tamiya India (Gurgaon ) but as you rightly said most of the items are out of stock with them and what ever is available they charge at their will.
let me know if you need any other information on this.

puneet
