HOLY MOTHER OF...!!!!

Well, if I don't have an Iphone, I need to buy one. Next, I need access to a closed circuit. 2075 servo?!?! :banghead: Similar drivetrain to slash/ stampede 4x4.... boo

Now, 100mph..... HELL YEAH!!! Telemetry, I WANT IT!!!

You can tell I already love and dislike this car.....

XO1 as in Experts Only is a nice touch......

I'd love to see YT vids of this being crashed by noobs. Then I bet they'll come online and say it's a piece of crap.  :P

expected selling price is 1000$
also you need an iphone or ipod touch to "unlock" 100mph capabilities :)

the problem is that you cant take regular cars at 100mph in india without the danger of instant zombification. any attempt at doing so with this car will mean that 1000$ just vanished from your pocket.
when you crash at that speed, you dont replace broken suspension, damaged servos etc.

you replace the whole car ;)

Yeah. Probably only take it to 100mph only on highways.

The 1000$ figure is the MSRP. The MRP should be around 600-700$....

MSRP is usually equivalent or cheaper than online stores as far as i know...

[EDIT]
Seeing what they suggested for the BL revo and what it was retailed for, i guess this XO-1 may go around 950-1000 USD although the site says $1100.

I want the controller too!!! The shell reminds me of the Pulsar ad "looks fast even when it's standing still". Love the video :) So who's planning on buying one? :D

It sounded good until i read the part where you need to buy a apple device to unlock if you want to hit the 100mph,its restricted to 50mph out of box.

In order to get it going to 100mph

If it's a governor based on the Rx or Tx, it's as simple as changing it out and using your own but losing the phone based telemetry and adjustments.

If it's governed by the ESC, someone smart will find a way to get around it....

I doubt the 100mph unlock with Iphone. I dont think they will do that.

If true that is absurd and BS. Is Traxxas trying to play Apple? That brings to my mind, a question which I will post as a poll.

The I Phone does unlock the 100 mph capability. As I said earlier, I hope it's governed by the Rx and not the ESC....

I've seen some people say that it is to make sure that some kid doesn't go out busting people's legs at 100 mph. There is a big flaw there. It makes an indirect assumption that IPhone users are smart. We see SO many people with or without IPhones doing really dumb stuff( Texting while driving et cetera). The only thing one can say is if somebody is going to spend nearly 1000$( if that is what the actual retail price will be), then that someone probably wouldn't mind having to buy an IPhone to get to the 100 mph mark.

I see it as a way to attract noobs. Top speed is a thing everyone looks at and asks about.... An experienced RC'er knows that we rarely attain top speed and even if we do, the car will go beyond visual range in a short span of time....

Top speed of even 60mph is plenty enough, the thing about this is it does 0 to 60mph in as low as 2.3 sec and its a 1/7 scale car with a METAL chassis.

I'd like the opportunity to do some math here.....

Traxxas says it goes from 0-100 mph in 4.92 seconds. 100 mph= 160 km/hr=  44.432 m/sec.

Acceleration= (final speed - initial speed)/ time taken
                    = ( 44.432 - 0)/4.92
                     = 9.0308 m/sec^2

Distance= initial speed*time taken + 0.5*acceleration*(time)^2
               = 0*4.92+ 0.5 * 9.0308 * (4.92)^2
               =109.302 m.

So, by the time it reaches 100 mph, it'll have traveled approximately 109.3 m. That is quite a lot, isn't it?

According to BSRC's Tx shootout, the old TQ radio system had a range of 252m.  Assuming you are at the middle of your speedrun track, you have around 500m of track to play with( Assuming the range is 250m). So, if it starts 100m away from you, it should attain top speed when it is 9.302m away from you. Seems pretty good eh? Say you have good eyes, you can start farther away and have a great time....

What do you think of the figures?

I dont think anyone will buy an iphone just to unlock a rc car. Thats just stupid. But considering every tom, dick and harry (including me) has an iphone these days, its no big deal.

Compilation of all the info from Pete Viera.....

The 1717 motor and Mamba Monster Extreme speed control are unique to XO-1. Don't be fooled by their external appearance. The ESC's capacitor bank, internal circuitry and software is designed for XO-1. A standard Mamba Monster will not offer the same performance. The 1717 motor has a new stator and roto for XO-1. Not the same as the original 1717 truggy motor.

POWER is not limited, only speed. The XO-1 has FULL POWER out of the box, but is geared to go 50mph.

Once the car is unlocked for 100mph, it's unlocked. You can run it without an iOS device, you can install any radio gear you want. But it would be huge mistake not to just spend the money on an iPod Touch, new or used. You'll have a better radio system than ANYTHING currently on the market.

The lock cannot be bypassed. The locking mechanism is in the entire power system and radio system, not just one component. Castle Link will not unlock the car. Switching out the receiver will not unlock the car. Disabling the RPM sensor will not unlock the car.

The faster you go, the more downforce the car makes. It's well planted at 50mph. And, it handles great. This is not a one-trick car. In 50mph mode, it's a ton of fun.

You don't need a ton of room to run the car. Finding a course you can safely call CLOSED is the hard part, not simply finding a place big enough. You only need to run the car for 6 seconds or so to get to 100mp and back to zero.

Retail price is $1900, suggested selling price is $1099. You may be able to get it for a little less, but it will not be $700 or $800 as I have seen some people post.

A "locked" XO-1 limits speed, not power. It's not like "Training Mode" built into the speed control on our other vehicles...but we do still have Training Mode with the XO-1, it's built into the TQi transmitter (and can be used with any vehicles you control with a TQi). You go to the Training Mode screen and set what you want the car's top speed to be--anywhere from zero to 100% of full throttle. When you're ready for full-throttle again, just go tap "Disable Training Mode" and you're back to full throttle. (The app might say something other than "Disable Training Mode," I don't have it front of me. But you get the idea.)

If you downgrade the XO-1 by installing another brand of radio system AFTER unlocking 100mph, you will still have 100mph capability with your non-Traxxas radio system. However, you will not be able to re-lock the speed control.

If you swap out the radio system, the XO-1 will no longer have telemetry capability unless A: your non-Traxxas radio system has telemetry and B: you install the required sensors for your non-Traxxas radio system.

Any ESC data that can be accessed via Castle Link will still be accessible, but Castle Link cannot lock or unlock the car.

The tires are belted with molded urethane inserts. Pretty standard stuff concept-wise, but the materials and bonding method are unique and were developed specifically for the XO-1.

Telemetry data comes from sensors installed on the model, not the ESC.

The app is pre-loaded with all the parameters for current Traxxas models. So, if you buy a Slash 4X4 and bind it to a TQi with Docking Base and an iOS device, the app is going to say, "That's a Slash 4X4" and automatically load the correct gear ratio, tire diameter, etc., all the specs on the model. If you change the gearing, you go into the app and touch Garage, then Model Setup. Touch the pinion or spur tooth count and a keyboard pops up to change it. Enter your neew pinion or spur gear tooth count, save, and you're done.

Hopefully parents WON'T be buying the XO-1 for a child, but if they do, the parent will be unlocking the car with his/her email, which the child does not have access to. When re-locked by the parent, the child cannot unlock the car with their (the child's) email.

The manual insists that the XO-1 be stored where unauthorized users may not access it, preferably with the speed control locked.

The app forces you to take the time to read the requirements. You can sit there with your eyes closed if you want, but you will not be able to click-click-click through the unlock process in 10 seconds as if it were an iTunes agreement (South Park, anyone?)

The purpose of the app is to give you much easier access to its pro-level tuning features and enable telemetry. It's main function is not a warning-dispenser.

When clicking through the various "I agree" buttons to unlock the 100mph speed capability, we DO require that the user agree to re-lock the XO-1 if they decide to sell it or gift it. Our absolute highest concern is that people respect the car and behave responsibly with it so they don't hurt themselves or someone else--not because of lawsuit avoidance, but because dang, we just don't want to see anybody get hurt anywhere, ever. We are particularly strident with the XO-1 because it is SO fast, but all Traxxas manuals have strong safety warnings. A 30mph Slash can hurt you if you do something stupid. We don't want our hobby to get a black eye, and we don't want anyone to literally get a black eye. Unfortunately, some people need to be told "don't be stupid," but there's no gurantee--just search FAIL on YouTube.

For many, many XO-1 customers, the Apple connectivity is a huge win. Given the popularity of the iPod touch and iPhone, many XO-1 customers will already have the required device. Even if you don't have the device and buy a NEW $199 iPod touch to use exclusively with the TQi transmitter, your $199 investment gives you a transmitter that blows away the current top-of-the-line $250-$350 offerings from the other brands. They don't have a color, high-resolution touch screen with 8GB (or more) of memory. They don't have automatic model recognition. They can't play music or movies or games or text or email.

Did I say $199 for an iPod touch? Get one on eBay for half that, or less.

If we offered an "accessory LCD display" for the radio, manufactured by Traxxas, none of you woulld be saying, "I already have an Android with a display on it! How dare you require me to buy YOUR display!" The display is Apple's, not ours, but the principle is the same. You can get an accessory display for the TQi. It happens to be made by Apple. And if you already own an iPod touch or iPhone, as millions do, your display is "free." We could never offer our own display with all the functionality of an iPod touch for anywhere near the $199 that a new iPod touch costs. So, we just used an iPod touch (or you can use your iPhone). You can get an iPod touch for much less on eBay or Craigslist--the TQi is compatible with Gen 2 touch and later. If you have some hatred for Apple that prevents you from buying an iPod touch, just borrow a friends. Unlocking the car does not require a unique iPod that is somehow linked to you.

Has the car been tested yet? if not, where is all this info from? All this makes the model look like a space age super car. After all it's just a Rc model. Will see how it works when some rich kids buy them and post videos.

this is one solid car from traxxas from my point of view .. the locking system is nice becuz of safety(but i dont like the i-product only part .. wish android worked too) .. n  obviously they don't make buggy n truggy etc ,, but why make those wen dey can make something like this which is one of a kind .. n im sure there r experts and buyers out der who do speed runs and not only race .. competition vehicle market is left for the brands which has been der for awhile, aftr all all the buggies n truggies are the same evn tho from difrnt brands .. .. traxxas is always introducing new stuffs like how dey did with the slash n now theres a whole new category of short course trucks .. plus they already have a gud line of vehicles..

i dont think traxxas is trying to make more profit with spares n of more broken parts due to the speed and crashes .. becuz it says on the label its for "experts" only .. i see experts crash their cars very less.. if its given to some kid yes it will crash .

true dat in india ders high chances of crashing becuz of the facilities we have like the "road" and parking lots where we drive onroad rc .. buts dats a diffrnt thing as the car was designed in the USofA and not india  .. simply put, we dont have the facility . so we end up running it in all the wrong places.

pricing is high but if u add up the costs of everything in the package like the lipos as well .. it seems pretty decent.. :)

People saying this car is bad, b/c you cant run it on indian road...Crap..!
Traxxas makes car for  america, but the whole world enjoys it. It wont really matter to them that our roads have holes or are so crowded b/c theres' arent.

IMO, theres is nothing like ths car is useless. It has been designed for those who like fast on road cars and such kind of space, it is not for those who think it might break on a crash. Most important is that this car is not for noobs, dont buy if u cant drive it and think of crashing it.
