:help:....can anybody guide me about using 3s lipo on sparrowhawk xxb (stock esc and ripper motor) , because i myself don't know , that will it be safe to use or it will fry the esc and motor :headscratch:..... :banghead:
FRy....Nothng else, i talked to TTamerica on phone and the guy was kind enough to tell me the same for the same motor and esc on an XXT.Mind it.
i thought of doing so because the 7.4v 2400mah NIMH battery runs only for less that 1 minute ,and when i tries to charge it the charger shows it as full charged after 5-10mins.
what to do.
i have the following battery and charger....
http://www.rcskyhobby.com/products.php?prd_id=137&main_page=products
and
http://rcskyhobby.com/products.php?prd_id=139&main_page=products
plz help........
Confirm whether its 7.4V or its 7.2V
Secondly the same ESC and motor ran upto 15mins on my car with a 2200mah lipo.
So chech ur batteries or charger
Third, Your esc can take a lipo, but your motor bearings are not designed for that power, it will die soon.
More over Ttr hasnt cleared anywhere whether a 3s is fine. Their helpline says no while ESC specs say yes....so better is stick to a 2S 5000mah, you are going to get runtimes of about 1hour on a small track for good driving.
oops ...... sorry its 7.2v , but whats wrong with my case than , the buggy hardly runs for 1 minute.
i checked the battery and charger , both seems to be ok.......
post a video of the whole sseen , that will be helpful
ok......i will upload the video tomorrow
i just checked with my multimeter and made following observations
1) i charged the battery
2) connected the esc and the battery and the motor
3) also connected multimeter parrellel with battery
4) when the esc is turned off , i.e no power flows through the esc the voltage is 8.5v
5) when i turn on the esc and run the motor then the voltage drops to 4v after 40 seconds.
5) again i turned off the esc and multimeter showed 7.4v
6) i turned on again and run motor and multimeter reading dropped to 4v again and then motor stopped.
i guess the battery is the one thats creating the problem.............plz help....
I would say something is wrong with your battery or charger. If it charges up completely and then dies in a minute, something is wrong.
IF you can manage it,get an EZrun combo like 13.5 turn or something and a HK lipo with an accucel-6 charger.
As Arpit said before,3s will fry it for sure.
Its your battery most probably, how old is it...? how many cycles?
its just new.......bought a few days back only...........!!
i m experincing this thing since i used it first time..
Then i suppose the charger is also new,
Its really hard to say then, a video will help, but try arranging a different battery and charger and use them to verify whether your motor and ESC are good enough or not.

I use to have the same combo of battery and charger and it took atleast 4 hours to charger the battery, definitely your charger is faulty, 99%its the charger rest 1% is battery, and your ESC and Motor are fine.
Try finding a new charger
it may also be like the person from whom i bought the battery gave me an old one with a tag of BRAND NEW......
but after the charger shows that the battery is fully charged , then i checked the battery with multimeter and the reading was 8.5v.
Any development on this?
He should check how many mA is the batt. holding on full charge
I think it can run 3s. Seen here in this video:

But 3s will put too much stress on the components.Lots of power is useless if it is not put down properly.3s just won't work with 1/10 scales on a track.
Yeah thats there. :)
Hey using 3s will provide better battery times compared to 2s for same speed. So if one gets a 3s and limits the max-throte using ATV setting on radio he will have a much longer runtime right?
Probably, but not suggested.Stick to 2s.No use in limiting the power when you have it.You will be wasting energy.Instead, buy a 2s and be happy.3s is exclusively for speedruns.
Hey how will energy get wasted?
You've got 3s but you're not using all of it.You might as well get a 2s lipo and have a blast. :)
Oh that way. Anyway the point is 3s can be used on the XXT/XXB but its not of much use :D

Exactly. :)
U can use a 8s on a savage 2350, but company says only 4s, Are they ill...NO!
The fact is that just plugging the battery and giving a little throttle is a lot different fromdoing hogh performance runs with that battery, the electronics wont blow if u run a 3s for one time with easy throttle, but wont last long. You can run a 3s on sparrowhawk Bl, but it will drastically reduce the life of electronics and then the noobs will complain of TTr quality being bad. The fact is that you dont know what is the limit.
In short, a 3s will do for hig pseed runs for 1-2 times, but regular 3s will kill your ESC and Motor Magnets within Weeks!
