Title: 2nd October
Post by: K K Iyer on October 02, 2018, 01:30:18 AM
Forget about stuff like DGCA restrictions on flying etc.
Here's something far more fundamental.

Shocked to find that an 18 year old member, who posts often on this forum, sometimes rudely,
DOESN'T KNOW WHETHER 2nd OCT IS GANDHI JI's BIRTHDAY OR DEATH ANNIVERSARY!

Is this true of teenagers in general?

Hope not, else GOD save our motherland.

How is this possible?
We all have studied history in our curriculum.
It's quite shameful for someone to not know the significant dates in national history.
No Iyer sir, this is not the case with all teenagers.

No, it is not true in general.

It must be a case from the outer space.

Satsang ke liye ....
Aur 3rd October ko laut aaya tha.....

Aah, thanks for your comment.
It helps people to understand the issue better when they see someone who missed the point altogether.
Perhaps you made a joke, only it wasn't funny...
Regards, nevertheless...

I acted in a school play once, based on India's Freedom Struggle.

There was a song in it in English & Hindi:

Freedom isn't free, freedom isn't free
You have to pay the price, you have to sacrifice
For your Liberty

Azadi muft nahi, azadi muft nahi......

Guess it happened to far back for the younger generation; they have never really seen those sacrifices our parents and others of their generation made

That said, I don't see why there should be an over-obsession with the Freedom Movement, and how relevant it is today. Sure, one must know the basics, but for the rest it seems to have become a tool of politicians

Who was the guy who said: Patriotism is the Last Refuge of Scoundrels?

Anyway, please do love, cherish, honour and respect your country! Try to forget the politicians and their evil ways, love your country for what it is, from deep in your heart

Sorry for the rant - as a college friend of mine recently commented on FB :  Subah 4 baje uthega toh yeh hi hota  ;D
