Hey! Guys I previously order Android TV Box worth  Rs. 3000 and it was held in customs and they demanded 41.4% duty and Rs. 6000 penalty said it is banned to import consumer electronics by post above Rs. 2000. This was before enhanced limit of Rs. 50000 for consumer electronics.

I would like to know if I buy android tv box worth 5000 and get it shipped by post then what would be the customs scenario now?

*Will they charge customs duty only (which should be around 15% or 18% or what? No Idea)
*Will they again come up with penalty issue (This shouldn't be the case anymore as limit is 50000 now or penalty was for whole another reason and above 2000 limit?)

What would be the landing cost, supposing 5000 is the cif value of android tv box?

If its held by Customs you will get a letter or email notification for the duty amount or if the duty is small then post might pay it on your behalf and collect it from you at the time of delivery.
For more information on your parcel or duty details you can visit post office and meet the custom officer.

So laptops, TVs, cellphones such as Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, can be imported into India, without paying any customs duty provided, their cif value is below ₹ 50000.

and how long will it take to clear the customs in chennai ?, my parcel is there for more than 5 days.

I ordered an Xiaomi Earphone from AliExpress.I paid $22 for this item.The Seller Shipped via Malaysian Post having Tracking# RQ107713321MY.As per Import and Custom Laws orders value less then ₹2000/-are not posses any Custom duty.

What is in the parcel, if you can share. It seems there is something that is either restricted to import or need some extra permissions. In another case it also need to be accessed for exact duty. so you will be informed by post letter for same.

If the item is not big in size, then it is not a problem. Ask the seller to mention the item as 'utility' or 'tools and hardware' on the packaging. A watch is fine, if the packing box is small(which it is generally). I have ordered rc parts like motor, esc, recievers etc. over about 20 times and never had a problem.
