First Of All Welcome to The Forum.Now If you see in your tracking Details It Is written Official Customs Declaration Required that means there is A Form of CN 22 Which the seller needs to attach to Declare the Value of the goods ( I Think that is only the Official Customs Declaration Not Sure but I think that only) And I think your seller has not attached that that's why Its causing a Little Bit of delay well this is what I think.Can you tell me what did you order and From where it was ordered ?? If Possible Can you share the Tracking ?? tracking simply says he's got 279 USD (High value) goods so its being detained by customs.

as PiyushI  said his goods not arrived after waiting , i wont recommend you to wait , simply go there , pay them and get your box released

its a mobile phone. ordered from ebay. cost is $279. i saw on internet that i might have to pay about 3k as tax. please tell me what should i do? wait or visit the officials? and if i visit them how long it should take? because i will leave the station after 10th june to visit my parents. so its important to get it before the same.

And i think action Will be taken(But Maybe Why not give it a Try As Many Have Succeded) and i think that  its always better to pay duties at The time of delivery well this is what i think So No Offemce to you brother.
@ Ankur :- Yes Just Visit them if possible and then show them The Porof Of Value/Purchase and i think duty should be low cant Gurantee but it should be low.
And yes one more thing if they ask to pay duties convince them that i will pay at the time of delivery.

Well You Can Ask The Seller  to send you an Invoice andalso the Paypal Payment Details Specifically Of That Transaction can Also be a Proof and Also you would have paid by Paypal right??

I've been reading and watching this thread/post for quite sometime now and Finally thought I'd join with you guys.

Recently, I bought a Car DVR/ Dash Cam for my Car on AliExpress.com. The price I paid was $24 USD which is approximately 1,600 INR. The seller Used Singapore Registered Air Mail as per my request, Because "Singapore Registered Air Mail" Lands directly at my city "Chennai" instead of China Air Mail going to Kolkata.

The seller shipped on 21st May 2015 and It arrived Chennai on 23rd May 2015
The problem started when the item went to customs. Since then, no update was made on the tracking.

That's the last update they've made and till now no update. I'm really worried if there is any issue? Do I need to pay any duty for this low amount ?

First Of All Welcome to the forum.Now Well As you have ordered a Car dash Camera i think its not a Restricted/Prohibited item well this is what i think and as the tracking log shows it was sent to customs on 23 May well its been about 13 Days it is customs well Actually Chennai Sometimes doesnt update the status it happens many times and also in Registered air mail Chances are low that duties maybe imposed on the article if the Article value is Low and then the Chance is very less i cant guarantee but then also its like 50-50 % that duty may be imposed or may not be but i also heard that we can Import items of value less than 2000 Rs Duty Free then also as i told its 50-50 % now about the status well what you can is contact Chennai Customs/FPO Here are the Details:-

@rshnk90 - You need to wait. All electronic items are detained by default and sent for manual inspection and hence the delay. Electronic Items which went to Chennai customs on 5th May 2015 was cleared on 5th June.

So sit tight and wait for another 15 days approx. If you still had not received the item by then, extend the buyer protection by another 30 days.

I have ordered tablet costing around $208 shipping via EMS. So how much custom charges I have to pay.   And will there be any problem in custom clearance.  Will there be any penalty. Well As It is a Tablet and I think as its not a Prohibited/Restricted Item And as many people order tablets so I think it should get cleared soon I cant Guarantee but I think it should be cleared soon well this is what I think. Now About the customs I think it should be around 10 to 20 % that is like 1300 to 2600 Rs and also I cant guarantee about that but sometimes chances are there customs may not be charged or levied too. So don't worry. Also if possible can you share the tracking number???if possible then only as I respect your privacy.

Thanks aman, .  My item declared value is same $208 and shipping cost is $9 EMS (can you tell me min to max custom I have to pay) and how much time it will take to clear from custom. Chances of penalty.

i think they are 28% in delhi. customs will be charged, thats for sure because its ems (top govt. service).
in tracking also you are required to call or email them , its very good feature.
