Hello everyone, I ordered a Chinese flute from aliexpress, it some Rs 600, and I told them not to mark it as a gift. I've had good experience with registered airmail (EMS is bad putting it extremely politely). Right now the parcel is not stuck with the customs but the tracking site isn't updated in since 26th of last month. Its stuck at

Honestly, I really wont care if it gets stuck in the customs, its not worth a sweat. But shouldn't air mail take a lot less time to reach India? I'm just curious. I'll get a better quality through fedex or something. What do you guys think?

Today I tried to call them but they are not answering. So I mailed them to know the retention reason and they replied .       "Pleaselet us check your parcel. We will get  back to you soon.You are requested by this mail to present the following documents to us so that we can process for further  necessary action.


List of Documents:
1.      Commercial Invoice/Catalogue/Price List
3.      Proof of payment/remittance/ Purchase Bill
4.      Evidence of value

For fast query resolution or further enquiry please contact us  on 022-26156063.                So I had mailed them invoice, paypal transaction.  But got no mail back what should I do now and I have read earlier post they say record item in custom means you have to pay some duty and it doesn't means that your parcel is stuck at customs.  What they mean by please let us check your parcel means they haven't yet inspected my parcel.

Sushil, in my experience with mumbai custom dept, they don't really what you import as long as you have vitamin m. Either drive to mumbai if you're feeling adventurous, like I did, or promise someone in mumbai a beer and make them go to the post office and throw them dogs some bones. You'll get your parcel in no time. I took those documents, they didn't even look at it. They first draft a ridiculous amount for you to pay to get your parcel released, fret not, it's a strategy. They just scare you. I wonder if someone who has a lot of money to throw could pay that amount and take the bill and sue their sorry behinds. Anyways, talk your way through, get it down to some 3k. Remember, they will be pocketing that money so don't think that you can't bargain. They asked for 14k for my parcel which was 17k. I paid 5k because I'm an idiot with no bargaining skills whatsoever. The person I went with told me that I paid too much and that I should have paid very little.

Holy sheezz.. 5k bribe for a parcel ? Sorry to hear that bro. gives me goose bumps. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed.

@AshwinRwt, you can pay the customs duty and send a request for refund. I don't think we can sue them. That is why there is a process called re-assessment and refund.  I may be wrong, but experts can help. But I you happen to take a video of these guys accepting bribe, then they can be put behind bars for sure.

hey guys i am new to this forum. I am in a fix here. I had ordered for 2 plastic pans for panning of metals from river beds, fairly inexpensive item. Paid about $20 for two pans including shipping from the USA. The shipment was done on 15th may and today is the 16th june. i have not received the parcel yet. can anyone tell me what is happening here. is the shipment lost or is it stuck with customs. tried calling the mumbai post but nobody answers the phone . the tracking number is below

First Of all Welcome to The Forum.Now As Your parcel was sent to Customs on 9 th June i.e 10 days back I think it should get cleared soon and moreover Motorbike Under crowl Fairing is not a restricted/Prohibited Item well this is what I think so. So I think it should get cleared soon. Now about the duty well is the 80 $ including the shipping fee or is it free or you had to pay more for shipping well always the duty is like 20 to 40 % but sometimes what happens is that duty also may not get charged well I cant guarantee but who knows right. So its like you may have to pay duty or may not.
Now As its in customs from 9th june well you can Contact Kolkata Customs to know if its cleared or not. Well Here are the contact details of Kolkata Customs/FPO :-

First Of all Welcome to the Forum. Now As your parcel is coming By USPS First-Class Package International Service and as its not registered one nor Speed Post so it wont Show Tracking in IPS Web Tracking Sometimes it may but from may 16 its not updated so its better that contact the seller. I am not trying to scare you Gaurav but yes it also may get delivered because USPS Parcels which are not registered does take time its like 65 to 70 % gets delivered and some are lost and also stealing happens in this case. (I am not trying to scare you). So its better If you contact the seller and tell Him/Her that still you haven't got the Articles.And also can I know from which website did you made the purchase and also did you pay by paypal???

i have to send a parcel to china. what are the prerequisites i should know before i do it? i want to do via indian post. any customs problem?

there is no sending problem, but on receiving in china make sure the the receiver doesnt disagree to receive it (due to customs charge on it)

Update:

Few weeks back, I posted my problem about tracking my parcel with customs. Today I've received it. But guess what ?

They charged me duty of 1,275Rs. for a product that is worth $23 ( 1,500Rs )
I paid total of Rs. 3000 approximately.

I could've sent it back for re-assessment. But no guarantee the product will return in good condition or how long it takes.
What makes me feel bad is...

My invoice was legit. My price tag was legit. The parcel is not any gift. It's a genuine customs declaration. But still.. heck. Incidents like this really makes me feel sad to be in india.

We use two way radios extensively for in-plant communications and you need a proper
licence from the WPC to operate

Why invite trouble ??

I got them from aliexpress, Dec 2013, arrived in 1 mo.
I dont know of any other brands. The Baofengs work great
