It usually takes month,  the customs sometimes charge unnecessaryily and sometimes not.
If you have claimed it you ll get it after a month.

I ordered from banggood.com through EMS and the hexacopter got stuck and they are asking for 15k Bribe or NOC from DGCA... As i cant do any of those i want it to return to the shipper for my refund. its a mjx x600 btw.

Guys I had ordered a Lipo 4000mAh 40c with charger, A FlySky FS-i6 tx and few extras like landing legs & props for my Phantom 3. The seller shipped these via Singapore Post as he said it would not be a problem... and voila, I received it without any Customs hassles. Don't know if I got lucky or that it's easier to ship Lipo's via Singapore Post.

Seller had declared them as Gift with $25 value and country of origin Singapore :-/
DJI Phantom 3, Walkera QR X350, SJ5000, Many nano and micro multirotors, Mobius etc :-)

hi vishal,
           I got struck with the situation same as yours. Please guide me. My parcel struck with Chennai customs. It is registered airmail by signpost. As your case mine also declared low value about $30. If they ask for any document what can I do, please help me. This is my first purchase and New to this forum.

nairitb

If it is REGISTERED AIRMAIL, then it generally clears customs without any hassles. Till date, I have not heard a registered airmail package being charged duty or intimation being sent to recipient for clearance, unless it contains BANNED goods.

However, time taken for clearance of registered airmail package varies. Sometimes it takes 1 day and on other occasions it may take upto 30 days. It all depends on workload at the respective customs office.

RAJA090

hi nairitb
              It is a tablet-pc. It is $103. They send it as gift and declared value is around $30. It is free shipping through singpost registered airmail. Is this article is banned?. Do the customs officials open my parcel ?

nairitb

Phones are not BANNED :D Officials may or may not open your parcel. I have heard lots of people getting mobiles of value upto $200 (if not more) by registered airmail without being charged duty. You can find several posts from such recipients in this forum itself. Dont worry. Just let the system do its job.

RAJA090

@nairitb Thanks bro.
I hope I will get it without any problem. Thank you for your quick reply. I requested sender for good packing. I think the size may be little bit large than usual so customs take it for examination. If they open the parcel do they repack safely as sender did ? Do you have any previous experience of opened and repacked parcel?

mangesh.khaire

Hi Raja,
If parcel declared as Gift will not be charged customs(Upto Rs. 10,000), but if not they will ask for invoice and bank statement for verification, They will send notice to visit custom office with documents.
It may need time to clear custom by there end, Mine is same case as yours, I called custom for follow up, They confirm that they have parcels from Sep month that are not cleared yet, so need to wait next 15-20 days for status changed/Notice from customs.

nairitb

None of the registered airmail packages I have received till date were opened by customs. Size does not matter. Max weight is 2kg for registered airmail. Air Parcels & EMS are almost always opened by customs. Re-packing is so-so.

I received an Air Parcel package once. It contained motors. Customs opened the package. There was nothing to repack as the motors were inside custom cut foam. So customs people just had to put the motors back inside the foam gaps cut for the motors. They sealed with packing tape which had "Opened by ... Checked by...Customs Dept..." like words printed on it.

UNregistered airmail packages are also opened by customs on some occasions. They tear the package in a very bad way and do not reseal properly. The Problem in this case is things inside these parcels are sometimes stolen. Cant say where they are stolen. (Personal Experience)

RAJA090

@mangesh
I am nervous but you and "nairitb" helps me to calm down little bit. I hope it will clear without any problem. Thank you.

@nairitb
It is registered Airmail and does not weighs 2kg. The item weight is around 450gms and the whole package may about 1.250kg. your prompt reply gave me some confidence. Thank you very much.

nairitb

mangesh.khaire

@nairitb - how we can differentiate between registered and unregistered  airmail?
My parcel is sent by Sweden post, is it registered?

nairitb

Registered parcels have tracking number which can be used to track the parcel till delivery. Registered parcels need signature of the person taking the delivery. Unregistered parcels do not have such facility and hence cannot be tracked.

RAJA090

@nairitb
            I have a doubt; how private carriers get cleared from customs without any problem ? why customs officials didn't check the packages as they did with public (govt). carriers ? I heard that DHL and TNT delivered any packages to India within 7-9 days.

nairitb

Private couriers like FedEx , DHL etc. have in-house customs clearance facility. They assess the packages themselves and pay the customs duty on behalf of the recipient in advance. For this they ask for the commercial invoice from the sender so that that they can process customs formalities before the actual package reaches the destination country. On reaching the destination country, a BILL OF ENTRY is generated for the package. This completes the customs documentation as all other documents are already kept ready by the courier. Almost everything is done electronically nowadays and this results in fast and hassle free clearance. They rarely open the packages as the the DHL / FedEx / TNT office at origin country already checks the parcel contents when receiving it from the sender.

RAJA090

Oh I see!!! That's why they charged such a huge amount as shipping cost. DHL requires $48 for my item. It is about 50% of my actual value of my item $103. so I choose free registered airmail as carrier. But customs department frustrating me. If DHL seeks $10-$20 as shipping charge, I would select them and get my item quickly and comfortably.

nairitb

:D You get what you pay for. Dont worry. Registered Airmail just takes time. It is also hassle free ;)
