@sathish, are you from Chennai? how is the flood situation in Chennai? Post man delivered even under this kind of worst situation is really astonishing.

@nairitb bro, I heard that if registered airmail is insured then customs officials detain the package for inspection. And also it their own discretion to allow or detain ; open or allow without open; and to impose duty or not. sometimes If they cant reach the monthly target tax collection they impose duty on majority of packages including registered airmail.

@nairitb, mangesh and others, surprisingly today I got my package. It is REGISTERED AIRMAIL and marked as GIFT and the declared value is $30. But customs officials imposed duty Rs. 1275 (1245 + 30). My package was opened and sealed with india post sealing tape. They just opened the box and closed it. They did not take the entire item away from the package. No assessment value of the item (tablet) is mentioned in the memo. They just mark 1245 and 30, added the value and mention it as custom duty. Now the time has come for REGISTERED AIRMAIL under customs duty.

well the official meaning is that your item might be restricted under custom law and  it has go through higher clearance but after diwali its common to show.

My all 10 orders are showing the same reason

But mostly it's because that the custom officer is on leave or the work load is too much to handle for few persons in charge, so  just be patient it might take another month. if you hurry then you end up paying double customs 41% as a punishment!

I guarantee most of the ppl ordered last month will get the same reason only very small packs of 2-5 dollars gets cleared at this time as its very low value custom to waste time in checking.

when i contacted mumbai foreign post office on 16 nov 2015 they said it will take 10 to 15 days reach you. For you from how many days it is showing "retetion reason : Awaiting presentation to customs commissioner "

its already been 2 months since i ordered.

If you get in 10-15 days then good for you but last time at diwali i ordered i received on christmas    

As registered airmail has customs duty, I think it would be better to go for private carriers, atleast the waiting time would be saved. In both mode we have to pay customs duty.No advantage of registered airmail.

no! still in customs! The officers are on leave! Its been more than a month for some of my parcels! But can't help! Everytime i call they say it will take few more days!

yesterday I also contacted them and they are saying that huge quantity of parcel are pending at their office , ask me call them after 15 days

today i called customs and they said parcels upto 26 oct 2015 were cleared.

@ Ajit kumar gopu, You should wait for atleast till 16.12.2015. Don't call the customs frequently. Mumbai customs are the busiest office. They take more time compared to other customs office in India.

I have bought on aliexpress.com  on 6/10/2015,with tracking id provided by seller BLGMY10094488 which is yanwan tracking it reaches to india.But now  i am not able to exact status of the parcel ? can anyone tell at which location of customs in india it would be deleivered and how can i get track of it ?
