Received an interesting SMS from one of my friends and just want to share with you all,
A mechanic was removing engine parts from a car, when he spotted a famous heart surgeon in the shop. He called the surgeon and said "Look at this engine, I opened its heart, took the valves out, repaired and put them back. So why do I get a small salary and you get such a huge sum". The doctor smiled, came close to the mechanic and said in his ear. "Try doing the same when the engine is running".

This has been one of my favorites :) Often mentioned in business/MBA classes.

Once a large ship's engine failed. The ship's owners tried one expert after another, but none of them could figure how to fix the engine. Then they brought in an old man who had been fixing ships since he was a youngster. He carried a large bag of tools with him, and when he arrived, he immediately went to work. He inspected the engine very carefully, top to bottom.

Two of the ship's owners were there, watching this man, hoping he would know what to do. After looking things over, the old man reached into his bag and pulled out a small hammer. He gently tapped something. Instantly, the engine lurched into life. He carefully put his hammer away. The engine was fixed! A week later, the owners received a bill from the old man for 10000 rupees.

"What?!" the owners exclaimed. "He hardly did anything!"

So they wrote the old man a note saying, "Please send us an itemized bill."

The man sent a bill that read:

Tapping with a hammer ........................ Rs 10.00

Knowing where to tap .......................... Rs 9990.00

Do not know how true this is but neverthless
When the American's first went in to space, they encountered problems in writing, so NASA tasked it's scientist to work on a writing instrument which could work in all conditions including zero gravity.

But when encountered with the same problem what did the Russians come up with?

Here is another one.
A Japenese firm was in the business of manufacturing soap boxes. As a value add they used to put in a soap inside all the boxes.
They received complaint from some customers stating that thier soap box turned out to be empty. Now in typical Japanese fashion, not only did they supply such customers with the missing soap, the management put a team of engineers to work to ensure that there were no empty soap boxes shipped out of the factory.
While the engineers were debating on pros and cons of various solution an old hand at the factory came up with a simple, cheap and fool proof solution>>>

The man put a high powered fan at suitable height beside the conveyor belt on which the ready soap boxes were being conveyed and switched on the fan.
Any empty box would land up on the floor from the belt. As simple as that
