folks,
Just wanted to share with you guys that I recently bought a Nikon D5000 dslr. Had been interested in photography and even had a film based slr, but for a long time I was wanting to go digital - simply because I can see the photos and do not have to wait for the film to develop....
My sister has this. Nice cam, but note that the FPS on video recording at full HD is low. But over all a really decent Value for money buy
Congrats Pankaj ! My self Canon'ian but have high regards for Nikon as best among top. D5000 is a good camera... HD Video is a plus. Be ready to spend lot of money on lenses and accessories. you can catch some of my flicks at http://www.flickr.com/photos/ujjwalis/

Hey I got confused, she has a Canon 500D. What confusing names. baap re baap.
Yup!! all these nomenclature on the body and lens numbers are indeed confusing. But wait there is more.. the crop factor, APS-C vs full frame sensor etc.... Its almost another black hole specially with lens's range of prices and feature

Hey!!! Are these pictures of Banarghatta Park? It sure is a wonderful place and I have been there twice when I was in Bangalore few years back.
BTW what lenses?
GREAT photos Ujjwaana!!! {:)} {:)} {:)}
Someday I will upload some of mine into this thread. I have been lucky to have a photograph selected for Nat Geo for display on their site. After RC/Scale modelling, photography is my second biggest passion.
Cheers!
VC
Pankaj sir, yes, the Tigers and Snakes were shot Bannergatta, as I have rightly tagged the photos.
Vinay, mostly people buying entry level DSLRs buy the 'Stock/Kit' lens, which is indeed a good choice. The lens should be a 18-55mm or 18-70mm VR.
VC! Heyy great to know about your NatGeo triumph!! Ya, before R/C, Photography has been by costliest hobby till date. Nice to know you too are a shutter bug

I was just asking Pankaj what he had brought. Coz I am a no no for a stock lens guy ;), If you remember what I asked my brother to buy.

Thanks for the appreciation Shrikant.
I myself don't remember - I inherited Electronics, HAM, Photography, Aeromodling (not R/C) from my Dad in my childhood and have been active in one or the other time to time. The only other hobby I picked myself became my profession - Computers.
Hope I would use my photography to cover Aero events in the future.

All taken with Canon EOS 1000D with 18-55mm lens and 55-250mm lens :)
I love photography too. Here are some of them - all taken using a Nikon L20 normal point and shoot cam.
Gr8 pics, reminds me of the ferry travel from Port Blair to Havelock, color of the water, distant rain, it rains under water you know ? atleast you can hear the overhead rain crystal clear.
Gr8 job rajath
I know Gusty, I did the same trip in 2008. Didn't have a digital cam back then, but shot hundreds of snaps with my Nokia 6630 1.3Mp cam. Unforgettable experience.
Just couldn't help posting these pictures. For a 1.3 mp Phone/Camera, I am more than satisfied! I have some more pictures of warcraft photographed at the Andaman Islands. That series is next.
Corals photographed while on a glass bottomed boat. Last photo shows the building where women freedom fighters were hanged.
The hotel room accorded a lovely view of the rising sun.........
This boat was washed ashore after the Tsunami. It was from Thailand. No one claimed it. It, probably, still rests at Viper island.
VC your Shots at National Geographic is superb
Beautiful pictures. But Rajath's were probably the best of all.
i agree, but to get that shark on the frame, i chased him around for like an 1/2 hr of intense paddling at 30 mtrs, i guess that makes it bad snap under difficult circumstances
Your shark was one among the best to my untrained eye.
Thanks guys :)
@augustine : colour of the water :)
@VC : remains of the same ship when i visited in 2010 :) and the pics on natgeo are awesome!
Rajath, the date is my wife's birthday, i love the smell of the sea, can feel it in your pics
What are the odds of that! Nice. There are so many beatifull places in our country. Will be visiting another one of these shortly :)
These are beautiful pics guys...missed going to Havlock during my trip to Andaman...regret that..but jolly buoy was also good experience..nice beautiful corals there..saw a clown fish in sea anemone just like in Finding Nemo..was super excited that day.
Regards
Ankur Kaul
Unfortunately Clown Fish are enjoying great popularity due to the movie "Finding Nemo" As always, with aquarium Clown Fish, there is an accompanying demand for anemones. Unfortunately, all anemones are not suited for captivity. Unlike our man 'Pug'.(Being called more like 'Hutch Dog', what a sad state to see dog meant for Srinagar living in Sriperambathur)
Anemones and Clown Fish have a well-known symbiotic relationship. In the ocean, the Clown Fish are protected from predator fish by the stinging tentacles of the anemone.
There some clown fish for you.
(Small cam in a cheap seal bag, the pic ain't great, but these clowns are great to see, they don't care about your size, they will attack if they feel threatened, almost clown like)
Wow! This thread is getting better and better!
Great pics Wing.Co sir.
