This is really getting out of hands. India is a large country and still some people have to fly drones near airports inspite of all the warnings. If this keeps on happening and since its difficult to trace out end users, dealers and LHSs who are selling drones will soon be in trouble and even customs may formally issue notifications banning import of drones into India.

Stray drone at Delhi airport, security clueless about where it came from, CISF inspector suspended

Air Traffic Controllers noticed an 'unknown object' flying over the runway. It was a suspected drone which CISF personnel, responsible for airport security, failed to notice initially. When they did, they informed the internal control room. By that time, the drone was nowhere in sight.

Initial reports suggest the drone was first noticed when planes were taking off from the runway. According to a senior CISF official who wished to remain anonymous, a CISF inspector has been suspended for this lapse. He was in charge when the drone was noticed.

Delhi Police officials, who did not wish to be named, confirmed to Mail Today that they had received information about a suspected flying object over the Dwarka or Raj Nagar side of the IGI airport.
A high-level meeting was called in the evening, where top officials of the Intelligence Bureau, the CISF and other departments discussed the matter, according to the CISF source. The central government is taking this as a major security lapse as agencies have no details on the suspected drone, said the senior official.

"On Tuesday, ATC noticed a suspected object flying over the airport. Later, security agencies, including the control room, were informed, but by that time the drone had vanished. A high-level security meeting was later called and CISF has suspended one inspector-rank official and summoned control room staff," a senior official who was present at the meeting held at IGI airport told Mail Today.

What if it was an actual UFO sighting... Ok kidding. But yes someone would really have to be ignorant to fly even close to the airports. Right now the news seems pretty sketchy, would have preferred to know more details and why is everyone anonymous on this piece. Hmm...

i don't see any hope to get laws lenient anymore. Once again i would say that since RTF model came in market they are killing this hobby day by day.

Guys,
if this continues, we will have to break the law just to pursue our hobby!

This is starting to look like the monkey man incident. If they see anything flying which they can't recognize they call it a drone. It could have been a bird for buddha's sake. Sure flying near the airport is stupidity, but making a huge deal out of it is even more. I mean they suspect that it is a drone, they aren't even sure. What are you delhi people smoking man?
On a completely different note, theres a drone perched on my balcony, eating corn. I think I'll call the police now.

santanucus

Yes...I agree. Anything is blamed on drones these days. In fact, being an UFO enthusiast, I am also concerned that any UFO sighting will be explained as a Drone in the coming days :)

Contrary to what we think most people dont know about proper RC flying practices (or even some common sense rules)  and this is largely being brought about by all the RTF "drones"  in the market. Earlier you had to work your way up the hierarchy from 3 channel trainer to nitro to gasser to heli to multirotor etc..  None of this self-centering throttle RTH GPS POI IOC nonsense.. Dont get me wrong,  i love all those features as much as the next guy but thank god I learnt on much simpler machines.. Not only can i handle it when we the tech starts to fail but also during the learning phase I was introduced to senior aeromodellers who prevented me from doing stupid shit like this and inculcated the basic rules and values of RC flying in me.. This new generation of "DJIdiots" as I like to call them are going to be a big hurdle for the progress of our beloved hobby in India. And you cant really blame DJI for this as if it wasnt them it would jus be some other company in their place.  This new generation are more operators than flyers and theres nothing we can do about it.. And that is a sad sad thing!

Well.... the medicine man is bang on.... Absolutely true.

Today's fast buck generation does not believe in what hubby lovers like to do.... i.e. stay safe and keep others safe.  They think they are the MASTERS of their life....??? well we need strict laws and all who do not follow the law must get the taste of the law in such issues....
Well I been into aeromodelling since I was in School....  and then been in the air for over 30 years.  Now looking to be back into aeromodelling full time...

No one in the authority wants to give the aliens the credit these days. All credits go to the drones :(
