I have ordered 5 items from China(AliExpress) One package arrived and my family is not allowing me to place a parcel in my home.
What should i do now? :help:

Perhaps your family's panic sounds hilarious at first but that is not entirely base less.

"Respiratory illnesses can spread through the surfaces upon which the droplets land—like airplane seats and tray tables (or parcels may be). How long those droplets last depends both on the droplet and the surface—mucus or saliva, porous or non-porous, for example. Viruses can vary dramatically in how long they last on surfaces, from hours to months." - copied from https://www.nationalgeographic.com/science/2020/01/how-coronavirus-spreads-on-a-plane/

Use precaution. Use surgical gloves and masks. Use a dissolver like Isopropyl alcohol to clean the all the surfaces (if you can not rinse in water) and then use. There is infection reported from Shenzhen.

People may say not to spread panic or worry, virus imported through ali express is a distant nightmare  :o. But I would have given preference to the above post in nat geo.

Any virus and/or bacteria cannot stay alive outside of an active carrier for eternity (which is the average time it takes for a parcel from china to reach us)...this has been scientifically proven.

sorry for the bad humor..could not resist

This is a message which I got from one my seller from aliexpress

"Hello,Please kindly know that the shipment and delivery might be delay for serveral days because of the grand festival- 'Spring Festival' in China. In terms of the unexpected virus in China, please refer to the official announcement from WHO or other authorities.  All parcels in this shop would be uniformly disinfected by the airlines and delivered to your hands after customs inspection and quarantine. There will be no potential danger. Please rest assured that the goods will be safe. "

I also received similar statement from the seller. He said "all the parcel/shipment will be disinfected by the aliexpress before shipping". there is nothing to panic.

I think the gov/courier_companies/e_sites also understand the implications of couriers/parcel getting infected and transmitted. All will/should disinfect anything that comes into their purview otherwise it wouldn't take a fortnight to infect the whole population.

Since when we started to believe these Chinese corporates   :headscratch:

Even if it's true.... "Before shipping" is where Ali's responsibility ends. Now it's upto the shipping agent whether to sneeze on your parcel or not.

Sorry for bad joke  :banghead: could not resist.

Any body receiving parcels from bang or ali? Just heard that all parcels are on hold or quarantined.

This is an old thing. I am just writing to share.

I received my parcels after months even after the lockdown.

The postman(which I know personally) hesitated to deliver Chinese parcels.
Postman told me many times why you still ordering from China.
But pending parcels were still coming.

My mother and father forced me to put parcels under the sunlight.
My father was a bit angry when the parcel gets arrived.

That bad time is gone.
