the possibilities of lightning striking you is more than for the transmitter as you tend to conduct more electricity being so close or on the ground than the transmitter, let alone the receiver. although, lightning strike can fry any electronics, no doubt!

can lightning bolt strike to Rc transmitter or receiver ???

yes - if you are extremely unlucky "panaoti"  ,, or you have sinned.

I have been stopped/voluntarily stopped playing golf many times during a thunderstorm. The metal (or graphite) club acts as a lightning conductor. The same would apply to the old style AM/FM/PCM/PPM Radios with long antennae

thanks ......all of u....
for saikat...- panoti  knows exactly about what happens with them, thats why you know.im am not. :giggle:
for sanjay55 - im not going to be like you showed that pic..thanks...

i can expect some technical answers rather than jokes next time bcoz this is RCINDIA My friends...

Here is the technical answer,
One can't predict what the Lightning will strike at, even the Lightning bolt can't decide it, :giggle: . The Bolt finds the nearest Lowest resistance medium to discharge to earth .

talking about golf and lightning strike, here is a pic of how it looks on the golf course post a lightning bolt.  :giggle:

It depends upon of the lightning bolt.If its strong it will cause damage or else may not.Open spaces are more prone to be get hit by it.

The golf course pic is not a lightning strike

- it happens due to fungal disease - when a tree is uprooted and grass
laid over without treating the soil properly.

Look, in detail, in every half cycle of RF wave, your antenna are radiating and absorbing some electron from media (through air). The path of radiating electron, is the point (tip of antenna) and source is the virtual ground point of your antenna (Base of Antenna) and the path length (Antenna Length) controls the reflection wave and the amount of radiation that perfectly make the efficiency of the antenna (Quarter wave, half wave etc.) Now in AM, as the wavelength is large, the antenna are long and the amount of electron in each pulse is large i. e. more electron discharge/absorb per cycle. Watt means electron discharge/absorb per wave x wave/second x potential diff across conductor (Not actually but for realize, you can neglect other factors...) that is coolomb per second (Ampear) and voltage. (All are in RMS and watt is vector addition, nothing else)

Now think if you are sleeping and your mom can 1. Thrust continuously in linear motion, 2. periodically thrust with lower pressure(gentle push) and release with a frequency of 0.2 - 0.5 Hz or 3. vibrate with appx. 10 Hz.
You will definitely give faster respons at higher frequency but the effort of your mom is less.. That is like 2.4 GHz response is better than lower frequency AM.

Electron discharge is more in AM but Δt is more and in high freq, being Δt is less, acts better. But distance of travel is less than AM being lower energy.
Can be compared with wave in water in pond and sea. The magnitude and frequency. Which fade out faster or travels larger. Now everything depend on application.

Now in case of lighting, the charge accumulated in the cloud (oort cloud) finds the easiest path. Though the air is more or less similar, but still some excess +ve or *-ve ionized charge be present arround your transmitter (More precisely your antenna). So, more your radiating power, chances are more.

Now, the charge passes through a few kilometers in length. So the statistician will say chances are there and a technician will say no chance and an engineer who optimize the both view in practical view, will say there is chance but it is soo soo small that you can neglect it.

And in receiver antenna it wont radiate but induce the oscillation depending on resonance of tank ckt or crystal or PLL or even resonant cavity, the chance for radiation is very low. the only chance is it's metal conductivity if and only if it comes in surrounding of the discharge of an sphere of it's surrounding (Like a capsule) so that the path may shorten even a little bit. But again the chances are you can imagine.

I think i cannot explain more easier than this...

Thanks
We have to unite and to prove ourself to make indigenous products as well as marketing / Canvasing them. I'm sure we must achieve success if we try unitedly.

great explanations my friends  thank u......
my student asked this question to me now i can give him detailed answer
