For quite sometime I was thinking "Do we need a price comparison website for RC products in India ? "
As we know, many LHS are coming up and offering similar and same products at different prices.
It is becoming more inconvenient for the buyer to visit 65 online websites (Compiled this information from megalist) to look for a product.
Though I am not into IT, I can develop and host this website.

Getting data from LHS websites can be done in two ways;
1. By webscraping with permission from LHS. But this is  time consuming and difficult to maintain when new products/price change/stock change etc.
2. With the the help of the LHS. I can provide them a module/extension suiting to their eCommerce platform which exports the products list everyday and my site will download and import this xml file into this comparison site.

Please note member can browse this website to locate a product, compare the prices, but when they want to buy they will be redirected to the LHS website.

So my question is
Do we need a price comparison website for RC products in India !
Please post your queries / comments / suggestions.

What benefit will I get from this ?
1. There could be some advertisement shown on this website to meet the expenses of the site.
2. My own LHS (VibrantHobbies) prices will be shown on the website which may be lower than other LHS. But other LHS also can see the prices and lower their prices. This will lead to a price war. Good for hobbyists but bad for LHS. They will not participate in the price comparison site.
3. The admin interface of the script I am planning has the information regarding which products was seen by the customer and where they were redirected. So, I may use this information to stock this product in my website. To give a fair chance to all LHS I will share this information to all.

I narrowed down on a ready made script and expecting a very less work in the coding front. Also, it may not be possible to modify much since the script is encrypted.

There are similar apps available for price comparison. Makhhichoos is one of them. Works on very simple criteria of price comparison of products from various sites and suggests which website is selling it cheapest.

Maybe the LHS could contact Makhichoos team and get their websites associated with their app.

My idea is an exclusive site for RC products in India and I am volunteering and calling LHS.
You are asking them to go and register with them. So called price comparison websites have different mechanism to earn revenues. They may ask for money for each referral/sales originating from their sites or membership fees for the LHS.

I think you took me on the wrong front.

No I do not work for Makkichoos and yes its an extension. And yes they work on referral basis and yes they do earn money on them. But it simply shows price of a specific product available on different websites. And the user can select the cheapest one.

LHS might not want to share DATA for your website and as you say scrapping can be a troublesome task and the "Disclosure" you mentioned.

PS: I am not at all against the idea that you proposed. Its a good initiative.

I am not interested in any revenue from this site. However, if my current VPS is getting overloaded then I may need to move it to a separate vps and that time I may use google ad words to make some revenue to meet the expenses.
If I get anything extra, the same will be contributed to RCIndia sweepstakes.
