Title: Flight mode on Indian airplanes.
Post by: Danny on September 24, 2012, 12:14:54 PM
I usually take a flight when visiting home and the one thing that really erks me is the following announcement " Use of Mobile Phones on Board: The Government of India prohibits the use of Mobile Phones on board at all times.
Mobile phones when kept in "POWER ON" mode affect the radio frequency on which the navigation equipment of the aircraft works. Even when the mobile phones are not being used they continue to make low-level transmission, when the power is on. Passengers must therefore keep their mobile phones in the "POWER OFF" mode, as soon as they leave the departure terminal, until the time they enter the arrival terminal at their destination station."

:banghead:

My problem is that they dont even let people use their phones in flight mode or airplane mode. Flight mode basically stops all kinds of transmission from the device and still let's one use it for music or playing games or reading an ebook.

I have been trying to look for a government site that says the statement quoted by all airlines. But so far have not found any.

Personally I feel that it's high time the goverment changes the rules to Atleast allow use of devices in flight mode.

Thought......?
