If I grow them for years, I will not have the heart to cut them..

+1! I like you Atul. :hatsoff:

Pricing is good and I also have a plot of land where I can cultivate the trees, but as Atul said, I wouldn't have the heart to harvest the wood later.
Growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional!

u grow them to cut them..... u should let things go.....

if u do not cut it when it is 6-9 yrs  old... after the 10th year it will  start rotting from the inside......
and u do not want your beloved  tree to rot...rather cut it and  use it...

Please move these topic to 'Chatter Zone'

I dont think you can grow commercial grade Balsa in Indian subcontinent climate. Some cheap grade Balsa does grow in SE Asia (Remember Mr Sateria from Malasia/Thailand??), but trying to do so in India would be impractical.

Guessed so ... otherwise all the RC folks (including me) would have planted balsa in their own back yard ;)

Since you have already bought it, why not have a 'Cultivation Log' on this forum, just like we have 'Build Logs' !!

Nice thread and really interesting. But in Mumbai you have to take permission from BMC and TMC to cut a fully grown tree, else you will land in Jail.
