I am trying to understand how much are people comfortable spending on a hobby as a beginner.

My question : How much did you spend (or are planning to spend) on your first complete build ?

I am understand some costs are "one time" like spending on a good radio, batteries,chargers,etc to some extent. But what was the entry cost ?

Also any feedback about the common pitfalls in terms of buying experience would be wonderful.

Rs 3.5k Transmitter + Reciever
Rs 800 LiPo
Rs 700 Motor
Rs 300 Few Props
Rs 200 A coro Sheet
Rs 1000 5 servos
Rs 500 Misc. Connectors, wires, etc
Rs 1000 or so LiPo charger

So for around 8000 you could have a beginner setup.
Though as you improve, You will need to invest more.
I have spent around 30000 in this hobby over a time of 3-4 years (I have taken some breaks in between) but it's all worth it

Well mine went like this

1100 CF frame
1200 Motors
1500 ESC
500 ESC
1400 Lipo
700 FC
300 Wires etc

for my 250 quad comes around 7k in actual
Now also need some good fpv system, planning to upgrade it soon

Just sharing an 8 month newbie's experience so far, so that you may know what to expect for on the "spending" front.

This hobby is so tempting that we will always want something else. But if you have the patience and the financial discipline to restrict yourself to a fixed budget every month(no matter how much you can afford), you can enjoy this hobby pretty much comfortably.

There will be times when you cannot resist the urge to try that new cool thing in the market. Identify what you absolutely need and know that you need not try everything that's out there.

Do not go ultra cheap. You may end up spending more. Instead, give it some time, save some more money and then "go for it".

If possible, make it a habit of not using your credit card for the hobby needs and wants. You will save yourself a happy future.

And always have a spare of everything handy.
