Try attaching a spraybar/needle valve to the end of the muffler.
Feed it kerosene. Suction at the spraybar will pull the kerosene...

just use pump diesel .... (HSD)

you will get spectacular smoke.

of course - make sure that you heat and atomise it correctly.

I am speaking with experience because out here we do a lot of "fogging"
for malaria and we use diesel as the carrier for the chemical.

50-50 diesel and kero. Add some baby oil and smoke on

Yes the method can be used but smoke is not guaranteed.
For smoke you need heat and these engines do not produce enough heat to convert the atomized spray of fluid to smoke.
But that should not stop you from experimenting.
