All resped Modellers.. here i have a querry to clear from you, that, i got some electronics and a battery pack, from one of my Respected Friend, to make a model.. and after completion, i was trying to parcel him back the craft, along with the electronics.. but the officials at courier service denied to take battery pack with model.. so, i parceled the model alone.. now waiting to parcel him the electronics with battery.. how can we send the batterypack with electronics..? is it possible by speed post..? please its a kind request..
Yes, its a big problem to send batteries through courier.
Only option is speedpost.
I tried FedEx, the did not accept it, so i went to a smaller courier company, with batteries already packed, and labelled the items as electronics. Doing just the exact same after that .
Trax, is it possible to send batteries through speed post..? with a clear declaration about the content..? especially with LiPoly battery..? please..
roopesh sir,
i have twice send the battery through speed post, with clear declaration..what i did was packed the battery, and sent it.
however they will ask you what is there in the package, but they don't ask to open up and show it if the package is small.
While sending a battery to one of our fellow modellers, they just asked me to write up whts there in the package. And i wrote it to be "hobby battery".. and explained it to be a toy car battery which my friend forgot to take back ;D.
it was my experience, hope it helps :)
I know what I do is wrong, but I ususally select a package that is the size and shape of a photo-frame or someother gift, put whatever I want to put, optimize the weight and say it's a "wooden photo-frame" for my friend or I was selling a "pack of playing crads" thru eBay. They accept it happily. ;D

I do something similar, i say,its a small electonics item...now the courier people are not bothered about what is it. Even then if they ask,i tell them its a power system component lol!

While shipping a battery to Roopesh sir, I told DTDC it was a mobile phone charger, and they didn't accept it!!! So I had to go to a different branch and tell it was a USB cable!!! For me it seems they're scared of ANYTHING Electric/electronic... If it's electric, they're concerned about safety, and if it's electronic, they think it's too fragile to send over courier. ;D
O yeah..this happened to me also, but i was fortunate enough to find out a courier shop near my home itself which didn't cared about anything, they just need money.
That being said, the deliver on time, and sometimes even before, and shipping charges... Rs.. 70 from Delhi to Chennai for a sweet box size package full of battery and motors...!
@traxxrc1
You're so lucky.
I wish I had a DTDC/other courier shop right beside my home who knew I was mad enough to send real sweets to my friedns all over India over courier! ;D I would just say "Diwali sweets" or just "season's sweets" and ship LiPos, motor, and just any crap I wanted!!! :giggle: :giggle:
friends.. i am so sad.. without proper declaration how can i send it..? and what will be the thinking of my respected Friend.. still trying for a way.. by packing the battery in a strong metal container..
Roopesh Sir,
Use speed post and if they ask, tell them its some toy or gift inside.
Don't worry, i have sent them the same way, if u remember... ;D
ok.. will try by tomorrow.. :salute:
