YES I'm very shocked. I honestly didn't realise I'd left so many friends here on RCIndia. What a lovely surprise it was to have so many PMs to read. I couldn't possibly answer them all individually, It'd take me a month to catch up :-) So I opted for this post. I hope you don't think I'm rude, well not too much anyway. I find my attention span has dropped since spending the last year in and out of hospital beds and flat on my back. My spine is what would be called "Stuffed" here in Australia. I've spent far too long abusing it in my younger days. Being a Ambulance Officer didn't help, Picking up 43 stone patients on a stretcher sealed my fate I think. Falling 4 feet in a hammock wasn't exactly helpful either. I advise everyone, especially you younger guys to stop and think before doing anything which may injure your spine, believe me it tends to get you in the end, in more ways than one :-)

I'm still a dyed in the wool RC nut. My collection had the opportunity to grow whilst being off my feet. Nothing to spend my pocket money on but new planes, copters and parts. I have enough spare parts to last me out I reckon. A good friend complained I was the reason HobbyKing was always out of stock of whatever he wanted. He said it was me who kept them that way :-)

I've been very quiet on HobbyKing of late. Gusty knows the ins and outs of why. The person involved is still gouging 10 cents an answer these days and I've realised there was little I could do about it. In fact I ended up being the one to suffer because of it. Therefore I've backed right off. I also had a run in with another HobbyKing member. He openly stated on a forum he was buying up all HobbyKing's Flight Controllers and making a killing selling them for more than 4 times their cost, plus making a huge profit on freight. Once again I saw it as my duty to act and I complained to HobbyKing, only to end up being barred from the help forum. Luckily a staff member took note of the help I'd g\been giving and got my ban overturned. I've since made the decision that it's every man for himself and it's now number one I look after. I admit I still get upset regarding certain matters on HobbyKing and I'll say exactly what I think on each matter as it presents itself. I do tend to bite my tongue slightly more often. :-)

A shame to hear about the Bugle not being exactly what was expected. I have been told about a young gentleman who builds his own and sells them. Believe me it's not planes I'm after, at least not HobbyKing planes. I really want a plane from India. I've seen the planes you guys are flying and it amazes me how well you build them and fly them. Obviously they aren't the ordinary EPO foam planes I'm up to eyeballs in. Forty built and another 21 still in their boxes and mainly bigun's too. Maybe I'm trying to relive my childhood. I built my first plane at age 8. I christened it Suzie. A wing over cabin job built to my Father's specs. He designed it, no radio control, it was made to fly in large circles and somewhat nose heavy. When the motor ran out of fuel it went into a continual stall until it either landed gracefully just before it stalled again or crashed badly when it was at the start of a stall. Those were the days. I flew the wings off that plane for well over 7 1/2 years. I was sorry to leave it at home when I came out to Australia at age 16.

I'm definitely willing to pay for the honour of owning a plane I realise the freight may be a little hefty but hey, how much more than HobbyKing's freight can it be We have a HobbyKing warehouse just 700km from here (that's local in Australia) and for some reason it's cheaper to have certain items shipped from China than have them shipped from my own state, NSW. Prior to them messing up LiPo deliveries and decimating the freight services I could order something from China and within minutes order something from our local warehouse and have both orders arrive the same day. Is it just me or does anyone else see something is wrong somewhere? Because of exactly those problems my buying has slowed to a trickle. I don't find it nearly as much fun to receive new equipment when it sometimes costs more in freight than the item getting shipped.

Hopefully things are improving in India now many more RC'ers are wanting more planes and parts. Hopefully with HobbyKing's prices going ballistic you've found new dealers ready to offer you better deals. Actually a good indication of that is what Anand has told me about. He has a local modeler who's building his own planes. I intend to contact Anand and find out more. I've also been told the Bugle is now being retailed by another company and the price has gone up, but to be honest I expected it to. I couldn't believe a plane could be put together for such a small amount as originally mentioned.

One thing I have been doing a lot of is flight sim flying. I had to keep in touch with my controller so I went mad and purchased every major sim available. They've certainly come a long way from 35 years ago when I was running Falcon on a 8088 IBM. ( that's the first desktop commercial IBM by the way) I wonder if anyone has heard of the Tandy TRS 80. My very first computer, with a whole 4k of memory and basic programming. Those were the days.

For all the operations I've had I can honestly say, it's been a waste of time. I now wish I'd simply put up with the pain because now I still have the pain plus numb feet as a bonus. It seems the surgeon must have damaged some nerve fibers when he operated and I'm slowly loosing feeling in my feet. I do however now own a mobility scooter. It's a 24 volt 90amp battery powered beastie which screams along at 15km per hour. I'm waiting for a friend to weld a frame to fit to the rear of it so I can carry my boats, quadcopters and planes (not all at once of course) along with a controller and batteries. I've already built a wiring loom to power a LiPo charger, two way communications with home and an MP3 player. I'm still working out the idea of something to boil water for a cup of tea whilst at the field. I already have a 12 volt soldering iron, hot glue gun ready to plug in. In fact I guess I should pack an army stretcher and sleep at the field. There'll be no need to come home to do repairs. then again, my wife is a good cook so maybe I should come home occasionally :-)

I can relate to this post , i was in beed for almost two months when i tore my hamstring . And it kills me every day knowing that i cant play badminton for a long long time (have played district) well hang in there i do believe there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

Here it is 4:30 in the morning. The sun should be arriving soon and start warming things up. It's still a toasty 25 degrees and very steamy. We actually had rain just after Christmas and New year so the humidity is lingering on. A good friend of mine owns a farm just out of town and it was to be yet another drought year but he and all our farmers are rejoicing after many of them had 3 inches of rain. A very rare occurrence for quite some time.

Sorry to hear about your hamstring Rajjaiswal, I've been told it can be very painful. Hopefully you're getting around now and getting plenty of exercise to build up those muscles. I'm afraid it's too late for me, the old body is going through the inevitable woes of old age. It seems as soon as one ailment is beaten another's waiting to appear. I definitely can't complain the old model has served me well especially after the abuse I've given it. I just wish I could trade it in on a new one :-) My wife often thinks I'm a big kid so I'm content with that.

I'm still fascinated with this "corro" you mentioned Sanjayrai. I've never seen a plane built using it. I'd imagine it's much stronger than balsa and can take a bit of knocking around. I assume I have the right substance. It's used to make shop signage here in Oz. basically a corrugated plasticized cardboard. I got hold of a piece of it last year and I imagine it's extremely strong for it's weight. It would be rather awkward to make anything but square corners except in one plane (or along the corrugations) I can see how a wing would be easy to make but dihedral would be out. Do you use carbon fiber rods in the build and how long can a wing be before it's unstable? I've never had enough of it to experiment with. Being in the Aussie bush such material is hard to come by. It's a 400km round trip just to buy foam sheets.

Because my flying has been rather sparse my hanger has become very full, with it now taking over 3 rooms to keep them. My wife wasn't too pleased when I filled our guest bedroom with planes. I have a rack in my bedroom to hold the quadcopters, one tricopter and a hexcopter, but my large heavy lifter hexcopter has found it's way to the rear veranda along with a large assortment of planes. They really are hard to store. The biggest problem is they haven't been subjected to actually being flown. The natural culling due to unfortunate accidents hasn't been happening, now I'm on a no building order until the squadron thins out a little. I've given a few away but the numbers kept increasing until the boss put a stop to it. It's a shame because what I have in boxes are the big guns. Just the boxes are currently occupying half of our office. Luckily the business has been closed so it's rarely used these days, but my wife has her eyes on it to use as a sewing room, which is strange because I'm the only one who can use a sewing machine. Funny things these wimmin'.

The last item I purchased in the aircraft line was a Quanum Nova. The quadcopter HobbyKing sells. It's an amazing piece of equipment and it flies well but not as well as my first quad. It flies as if it's on rails. Never having flown a quadcopter previously I took no more than about a minute to get a feel for the controls and I had it racing across the football field with a friend chasing me with his quad. We had a ball with it and ended up attracting a curious bunch of spectators who wrecked our days flying because they all wanted to inspect the quads and find out how they worked. I've managed to rack up quite a few hours with it and apart from fitting landing gear it's as good as the day it was built.

I have a new best mate, as my previous one sadly passed away. Why dogs can't live as long as us I don't know. Losing him was a loss which really got to me. I swore I'd never replace him but one look at my new mate was enough to change my mind. He's very small and literally a ball of fluff. I've named him Bert, a mix of Shitzhu and Maltese terrier and definitely a handful. He plays for a couple of hours then he'll suddenly collapse and sleep for another couple then back to playing again. He absolutely loves visitors and my nurses have all told me they will take him home. If the door bell rings he's always the first to get there and be ready to welcome whoever's there. He's laying alongside me at the moment, fast asleep and chasing my Grandson's dog in his sleep I think.

Well I'm finally feeling tired. I've been trying to get out of this routine I've found myself in. I can sleep like a log all day but can't sleep at night. I seem to have it backwards for some reason. I can't get out of it even if I go for 2 days without sleep. I've been the same since I had my last operation, weird.

Yes the material you find is the right substance which is mentioned by Rai sir 

 Thank you sooraj.palakkad for the OK. I thought that's what it was. Much easier to work with than foam and equally lightweight too I'd imagine. It would be interesting to see just how easy it is to work with. I've worked with Balsa, light timber and foam but never Corro. Hopefully I'll be able to pin someone down to supply one of your native planes. I could always make my own but a proper palne from India would take pride of place among the rest of the squadron.

I've just finished manhandling a large group of aircraft boxes so I can refresh my memory as to what's sitting in the really big boxes at the rear. there were 2 F100 Super Sabres and 1 Hawker Hunter. I'll build them one day, I hope. :-) I see you're into multirotors. hat a great invention they are. Just about any material can be used for a frame. I've even seen rolled up cardboard covered in heatshrink used to build one. Probably better than rods of aluminium for less flex and vibration. I see you use the KK line of FCs. All of mine are using either KK2 or KK2.1, 5.5, Naza , QQ board or the Ideafly and Nova's proprietary FCs . I was using the i86 board until the Thunder QQ board dropped in price, it's now my testing FC I use just to try out different copters for CG and vibration etc.

Yes sir , I Entered this awesome hobby with a multirotor. And no I don't use only KK line of FCs, I am making a FC running Multiwii code. KK2 is a very good FC for Beginners - here too, almost 80% hobbyists use that. I selected Aluminum, because it is cheaply available and rigid. you know what, a multi-frame can be made in corro too !! Such a versatile material .

Now I am planning to make my first rc plane, considering expert suggestions, selected foam (depron) to work with .

For your corro ventures, I think Sanjay sir is the best person to help - He is a corro master, I am awestruck at his builds with corro .Hope you get somebody to supply you a plane from here soon

Thank you all for the info on Corro. I'll spend the rest of the day checking out all the links you've posted. Please forgive me for my rambling posts. Being stuck in bed for most of the day I don't get the opportunity to talk to many people and because this forum is so friendly I do tend to get carried away :-)

Multicopters are great to fly and a lot of fun, but I don't think they'll outdo the older hobby of flying planes, well at least for me. The most fun I've had with a quadcopter was my first ever flight. I was being chased by another quad flown by a good friend. The only letdown was having to change batteries. I find it's the same with planes, having someone else in the air with you can lead to many laughs. If I want to just lie back and take it easy I launch one of the many gliders I have. Flights of over 2 hours are common and as I'l living on open plains the thermals are abundant. We have eagles from the mountains fly over whenever thermals are around and they are great indicators to tell us where the thermals are. It's also great fun trying to avoid them as they see anything strange in their sky as the enemy. A few guys have had chunks of rudder and elevators missing after eagle strikes.

Agent Orange was a typical attempt by a multi billion dollar company to make even more money by selling to the US military. They were well aware of the medical problems it caused, but like many of their health tests they were covered up and doctored to hide the dangers to humans. For some weird reason, to get certification the US government allow the chemical manufacturers to conduct their own tests to have anything certified as "safe to use" The company concerned really made a killing (in more ways than one) when  they paid Australia compensation, a one off payment of 12 million dollars. Little did our Government know that not only were the children of those affected by the poison going to be deformed and have on-going health problems but we are now finding the children of their children are also being affected. Out of the 14 guys in my department who went to Vietnam, only two of us are remaining. The remainder died of unusual cancers.

For those of you who are unaware of the Agent Orange, white, pink and blue etc. scandal. It was used in Vietnam to defoliate complete jungle areas by the US Military. It was sprayed from the air by their giant bombers which were fitted with massive tanks and spray equipment. It was nothing to see half a dozen of them in formation dumping their poison on villages and natives, plus their own and other country's personnel. A typical and perfectly normal occurrence for the US military machine.

On a personal level, Obviously I haven't died (yet), but my result was having my immune system go completely haywire. For some reason my body suddenly decided my innards were a foreign body and it started to destroy itself. It took specialists almost 2 years to figure out I didn't have Colitis or Crohnes desease. After a major operation to remove all the damaged parts I died twice but only due to the skill of my attending nursing sister, I was revived. I must add that the sister was a male who refused to leave me while I was in Intensive care. He was scared that in handing me over to his relief he would forget to relay something of importance. He, along with my wife lived in that room for 5 days and slept in shifts on a chair in the corner. The first I knew of all this was weeks later when I was readmitted to hospital with a major infection. I was introduced to my guardian angel by my wife. Unfortunately, that 5 day vigil stayed with the poor guy and he resigned from Intensive Care to become a ward sister. He explained to me that he couldn't go through the ordeal again, and he felt safe to go home at the end of his shifts. I can't help feeling responsible for the nursing fraternity losing such a dedicated member. He did assure me he was much happier even though it meant a large drop in his pay packet.

Here I go rambling again. Gusty, I'm afraid my brush with FPV may be a short as yours. Even though I have multiple transmitters and receivers, Fat Sharks, a ground station and various antennas. I honestly can't see the lasting fun in the exercise. OK on an experimental basis. A case of been there, done that, but once I've succeeded I can't think of any reason for sticking with it. What is left after chasing distance records for FPV? I've spent thousands of dollars on equipment and I already know I'll be violently ill after using those Fat Shark Goggles. I got sick playing the early computer games such as Wolfenstein, the thought of having those screens just inches from my eyes worries me, I must admit. I also suffer if I try to read whilst being a passenger in a car or train. I hate travelling in the back seat of a car or seated backwards in a train. Luckily I haven't been in a train since my military days and If I go anywhere in my car I'm always up front. :-)

Give me the wide open sky, a good plane, my transmitter and a bag full of batteries and I'm happy. Or even swapping the plane for a boat every now and then. I have many boats which haven't seen water as yet. It's time I finally maidened my pride and joy, a fully modded, guaranteed to 110 MPH Segad. I haven't even turned the motor over yet. What I need desperately is an offsider. If anyone is planning an extended holiday to Australia, I have a bedroom put aside for a guest who is welcome to stay for enough time to help me launch the planes, multicopters and boats waiting to be maidened. Everything supplied, including planes to build should it rain. My wife is a great Aussie cook, nothing fancy, just good old fashioned Aussie tucker. She's managed to keep me well fed for the past 35 years and I have a waistline as proof. :-)

An Indian gentleman was visiting a relative in Brisbane when he saw me posting here a year ago. He emailed me and said he was coming down for a visit. Sadly he never arrived. Perhaps he was scared of never wanting to leave once he arrived in this RC wonderland. Obviously it's not all one way, a like minded RC nut would give me the incentive of trying more to get out to fly. As I said earlier, I enjoy flying with someone else, unfortunately there are no true RCers living within a 200km journey. Maybe they don't have understanding wives such as mine. I'm allowed to fly at any time and she will often come with me and bring a meal along. I've tried to get her to pick up a controller but she's happy to sit back and watch. I guess it would have to be someone special with CA flowing through their veins willing to fly from India to Oz just to fly planes. It's nice to dream though :-)

Well, I've just had the wind taken out of my sails, my darling wife just reminded I turn 66  in exactly 2 weeks. Strange, she usually reminds me it's 2 weeks before her birthday. She reckons if a younger RCer turned up I wouldn't be able to keep up, she's probably right, but I'd die trying. :-)

Blimey!  sorry guys, yet another scroller. In case you wonder where I fly or go to race my boats here's a Google Earth shot of where my home is in relation to where the fun starts. The complete area surrounded by the red line is where I can fly. It's almost all LOS so anywhere is easy FPV country. It may not look like much on the map but it's more than enough when in the air. Obviously Flying is out on the Footy fields if a match is taking place but even then there's plenty of room elsewhere or, if it gets too crowded, it's boating time. No matter which I'm doing, flying or boating it always attracts spectators. My wife knows plenty about the hobby to answer the inevitable questions. This leaves me to keep my mind on flying as it can become rather frustrating having to fly and answer the same questions time and time again. What's it worth? How fast can it go? Where did you buy it? Etc. etc. etc.

I must be going senile. I just made an order with HobbyKing Australia and Hong Kong. I wanted something new in quadcopter frames and I've never had anything like the HK Reptile 500 so I thought I'd try one. I considered spare parts and found it was cheaper to buy another complete kit. I intended to harvest the motors and ESCs from a more mundane quad I'd built but never flew. To heck with that idea, I purchased a complete set of motors and ESCs instead. I already have more than enough Flight Controllers so yet another quad will hang on the rack my wife designed and built in my bedroom. I wonder how many married men can say that or even that their wife actually drilled some holes in the bedroom wall to hang another two quads up after I filled the racks she built? Not too many I'm guessing. :-)

I'm still waiting for someone to be kind enough to give me a name of somewhere I can purchase a plane from India. I've been given a price for the Bugle. it was 1950 from memory. I thought the price was very reasonable but sadly I don't where or whom I can buy it from. I also need to know where to send the money and how much for freight.

I'm beginning to think perhaps I've said something out of place. I had a rush of messages and I answered a number of them and posted a general catch up post of what's been going on here in OZ. I don't believe I said anything wrong, but as our cultures are so different in many ways I'd hate to think I've upset my friends in India. Most of what I said was simply because I was asked so many questions. Maybe it's due to my rambling posts, I really do apologize for them, but because I've been confined to bed for so long I don't often have anyone to talk with. I'll try to keep it short in future, I promise.

How is you weather at the moment? Do you suffer from drought as we do? We did have a good downpour but the earth was so dry it vanished very quickly due to evaporation. Now it's very steamy and very hot. Not at all comfortable and it's very hard to get a decent night's sleep.

I hope you enjoyed the map of our part of town. It does look rather dry doesn't it. Not too much greenery around. Our man made lake doesn't look too clean but it's teeming with wild life. We even have seagulls and Pelicans visit it at times, and we're 500km from the ocean :-) If you look at the lowest part of the lake there's an island. I've never set foot on it and never intend to, it's crawling with snakes. Very poisonous ones too. I've seen a few of them further up where I go boating. I'll freely admit, I hate them, especially when they decide to cross my garden lawn. We have them come up from the river, to the right of my home.

The area between where I fly and go boating is what every town in Australia has, a showground. It's here we have the trots and greyhound races. Plus every year we have the town show and Pony camp, where all the young horse riders descend on Narrabri to learn how to ride and look after their horses. We have the largest Pony camp in Australia for some reason. I have no idea why it's the biggest, it just is.

You may notice a large area near the river is rather sparse. When and if we have a wet season, usually in January, February. The whole area floods. We've had it come right up to our downstairs doors and stop a couple of times, but our worst flood was back in the 70s, before I moved here. The town was completely isolated from the rest of Australia. The worst one I've seen had flood water over the top of the downstairs toilet seat, Obviously everyone used the upstairs toilet. We couldn't go anywhere for about 6 days and then it was only when we had to buy food. One thing you have to very careful of in flood water is snakes. They can come up behind you and if you're standing still they will attempt to climb up you to get out of the water. A number of people get bitten when it floods.:-) Plus we never walk under trees in flood water. Snakes have a tendency to drop out of them after they realise they can't find any food and have to find somewhere dry to get it. I did a news story for National TV about a snake which had it's head caught in a beer can. In the drought they may find a discarded beer can and poke their head in to get what's left, no matter how small the amount. Because of their scales they can't back out. I filmed two guys trying to cut the can open to release the snake. One held the snake, a 5 foot brown while the other guy used a pair of tin snips on the can. What they didn't count on was the snake having much more than just his head stuck. It had managed to get about 9 inches of it's body in there as well. Luckily the snake couldn't see because of the sudden daylight and it struck without connecting as it was released. Needless to say, two guys, myself and my assistant quickly left the immediate scene. I retreated about 10 feet away and stopped to get a parting shot of the snake as headed towards the river. Suddenly it flipped over and headed straight back towards us. Unfortunately, when looking into a viewfinder the subject can appear further away than it actually is. I stood my ground thinking I had plenty of time to clear off. I suddenly became aware of my assistant screaming at me to move. I opened my left eye and there was the snake only feet from mine. Everyone said later over a welcome fresh can of beer, how funny I looked as I did a complete 180 and started to run at the same time with a camera still on my shoulder. They made the matter worse by saying the snake did actually get close enough to make a strike, again it could have been that it was dehydrated from his ordeal or still partially blind, but he missed by a few cm. I don't intend to get that close ever again. I must add I also did another story about a snake and a Coca Cola can about 2 years later for a US network but I was lucky enough to have a better zoom on the new camera so I stood back somewhat further from the opening ceremony.

How and where did you get this skill of typing so many words without any error at all, (By no means i am trying to dissuade you from doing it) just that given your age and early entry into military, i am sure you didn't formally take any typing classes keep up the good job, in these 180 odd posts i am sure you have typed more than than guys with some 4000+ posts

Hi Gusty, I wondered if you'd flown off somewhere for a holiday   About my typing long posts. I'm sorry, I only started doing it after I took ill, for more than 10 years I've spent more time in bed than out and I lost many friends when I got home from my first major operation. My doctor told me it's a common thing for friends to desert a mate who's ill. I had plenty of casual friends but only a few what I'd class a good friends. When I got home my bedroom was like Grand Central Station, a steady flow of people calling in for a few minutes wanting to hear all the gory details. I figured it out much later, but unfortunately they averaged roughly 3 visits and then dwindled out.

According to my doctor it's a sign of insecurity and not wishing to realise their own mortality. A reasonable assumption I guess. Only one calls in every month or so. He's a young guy who suddenly inherited the family farm. He rarely comes to town, but when he does he calls in for a coffee and chat. I believe my reason for typing such long posts is due to the fact I rarely have anyone I can talk RC with. My friend hasn't a clue about it and my wife tries to understand what I'm doing but I can't have a technical conversation with her. Definitely not her fault by any means. So what I'm doing is making up for that lack of communication by trying to join in here. I guess I enjoy having conversations about RC.

I'm not one to get too technical, I was taught many years ago to ensure whoever I converse with, to make sure the person the other side understands exactly what I'm talking about. You'll rarely see me answering anything in a few words. I find it's a lot easier to make sure someone is fully aware of my answers or what I'm attempting to convey. I find nothing worse than someone keep coming back for something I didn't mention in the first place. I prefer to give the complete picture than a partial one which will leave someone confused. I could have answered your question with " Because I want to" and leave it there. It's best I give an explanation which would hopefully satisfy the question.

As I type, I'm reminded of various associated things which may have a bearing on what I'm saying, be it humerous or serious, I'll throw it in as a bonus. It helps keep the old brain ticking and hopefully entertains or at least have it more interesting than 5 word answers. Maybe I'm wrong, it's not often I get feedback. More often than not I've spent perhaps 20 to 30 minutes and completely wasted my time. Many people today simply don't have the time to listen to an old rambling on and either walk away or just skim through it and completely miss any question I've asked. Such as what's today's date. It's amazing how many times I've included such a question and nobody answers. It does me an idea as to who's reading, or rather who may be reading but not registering.

As for learning to type, no I've never had a lesson. During my time in charge of a Dental unit on a Naval training base I was expected to fill out forms for Medical and Dental Stores. A job with every reason to be absolutely concise and correct, down to every full stop. Failure to do so could lead to many problems,especially in the drug section. I was also in charge of the Gold safe, plus X-Ray dosage badges, plus trying to lead a group of various ratings to keep the unit functioning at maximum output. Not an easy task, and it did involve everything in triplicate. A form for everything and God help he who used the wrong form. Another form would have to be filled out to explain why a wrong form was used. I'm sure you know what I mean Gusty, but perhaps you warrant a secretary and other staff to do the paperwork.

Owing to this old brain I may stray from the thread and go Off Topic occasionally and then forget what the topic was, but Mr. Alf Zimer and his mate Sen Isle haven't quite got me in their claws as yet, at least I hope not. I may make a mistake occasionally, I'm not always right, and I do make typos. When I see the posts made by some of our youngsters I cringe, thankfully RCIndia has to have the most educated membership I've come across. I can only think your education system in India is far superior to ours. How anyone can endure 11 years of schooling and not know the difference between "they're and there and their" and "where and ware", or can't even spell "Dollar" leaves me wondering what they did in class or what the teacher was being paid for. I'm convinced the kids of today are out to completely change our language. Wot wiv orl de abbreviation (that's one word they can't make any shorter) and butchering, within 2 more generations us oldies would never understand what's being said. I believe our American friends are responsible for a lot of it. They even twist meanings, "that plane is cool" I can accept, but "that plane is sick" makes me feel likewise.

I've rambled enough and from NOW I'll try to restrict contact with my keyboard. I look forward to seeing your Edge 540 mate.   Stu

Well, That was an interesting day, I slept through the whole damned thing. At Midday I was typing and at 8pm I awoke to find all manner of programs had been opened by a twitching forefinger on assorted shortcuts. I just cut through the lot of them to retrieve your message. I do happen to recall a wet puppy saying hello at some stage.

When I arrived home from hospital my wife had purchased a puppy, hoping to replace the hole left in my life after my best mate Spud passed away. I was greeted by a tiny bundle of fur with what looked like a a furry worm quickly wagging. I Christened him Bert, a name he answers to very well. If I can figure out how to send photos here I'll do so.



I hope this works, if not you'll have a line of meaningless garbage. Pretty much similar to the other lines posted He's a Shitzhu cross Maltese Terrier, a breed known to be great with children, he fits in extremely well and has become my new best friend. A real bundle of fun and continually wears me out.

I'm slowly getting two more quads ready. One was complete but owing to the new motors I purchased for the latest frame not fitting I decided to make a few exchanges and ended up completely stripping an earlier model. I will admit the motors I purchased for the latest one were rather extreme in size so the new frame gets the smaller motors and the old one the bigun's. Plus ESC swaps of course.  I've also added gimbals to the Quanum Nova, I'll see how it performs and I'll mount a video transmitter to it's back and give it a an FPV tryout. I'm just a little unsure as to it's lifting weight abilities. I would prefer a little more battery power to run both drive and Gimbal/video but alas there's very little space to use a larger pack.

I've completed the Bixler 3 build and it's ready to maiden, my problem there is there's too many others to maiden before it's turn. In fact I still haven't launched the Bixler 2 or 2.1. and dare I say the Bixler 1 could use a new maiden as a large percentage of it was replaced after it decided to do the Butterfly trick and fold it's wings. A good indication of the worth of Chinese carbon fiber. Luckily I have a good supply of rods made here in Oz to replace it. I should have photographed the original spar, it resembled a fractured piece of bamboo, not snapped but very split. Rather fitting when one considers it's origins. Perhaps that's how they make Carbon Fiber tubes in China, spray paint bamboo in black.

I would dearly love to build my 540. I was lucky enough to be granted a leave pass to build the Bixler 3 so I feel building yet another plane would really be pushing my luck. At least the copters don't have the visual smack in the face a massive chunk of white foam tends to give. Drat, another cold cup of tea. I'm given a nice hot brew and once I start typing I completely forget it's waiting to be consumed, ergo one cold cuppa. At least I didn't leave it untouched, my wife gets so upset when I leave a full cup, I can't understand why. 

I must go thither into the night, actually it's almost 9.30. A public holiday arrives tomorrow in the form of TADA!! "Australia Day" A day we celebrate in remembrance of the sea dog Captain Cook. When he rowed ashore in Botany Bay, landed on the beach and declared, Hey shipmates, this looks like a great place to have a BarBie, Q up for a burned sausage. Hence the now beloved Aussie pastime of Throwing a Shrimp on the BBQ. The Ozone layer is in for it's annual pounding as 23 million Aussies turn good Aussie meat into "Steak A La Charcoal" and 200 kilometers of sausages into blackened (excuse the term) "Sheep Dicks" Connasewers of the kulinry art we ain't, but every year the air is filled with the smell of sizzling snags and onions and the crack of ring pulls as yet another of many million "Coldies" (Beer) is cracked and consumed. It's estimated the day's consumption of Tinnies (also Beer) could be stacked end for end and reach the moon (empty of course) The entire nation will be dedicated to the task of consuming enough for the return trip. Their task made somewhat harder due to my forced abstinence from all forms of alcoholic beverages.

Just the two of us, in Shillong would've reached half way upto moon i guess. Sometimes we were building with beering, here is one such escapade Bud & Belatrike

I was working on my Nova gymbal, ordered that two batt contraption, waiting for it to arrive, changed prop to 10x4-7 did good 7-8 flights, no issues, motor didnt even know he was spinning a bigger prop. In fact these are DJI Flamewheel 550 props fits like a glove

Hi JK, Very nice to hear from you. He's a great little guy. I'm laying here with him curled up on my lap. We've just had supper together and now it's his bedtime. It's amazing how such a tiny package can have so much personality. I guess we're a pet mad bunch of people, I wasn't allowed to have a dog as a child, although plenty of them followed me home from school. I believe every child should have a dog, it teaches them so much about a special part of life. How about India, do pets play a part of your life. We tend to let our pets rule a large proportion of things we do. In fact many people give their pets more consideration than they do humans. It's easy to see why though, they are loyal to their owners no matter what happens.

Two years ago I had a nasty fall and became wedged under my home made workbench/ foam cutter. I literally couldn't move owing to a large metal bar under my back, right where I'd had major surgery only a month before. Spud my last dog heard the noise and came running. He came to me and licked my face, I told him to get Mum (my Wife) he ran to the front door and made a noise we'd never heard him make before or after. A sort of howl mixed with a bark, hard to describe. My wife heard it and somehow she knew something wasn't right. She came inside and Spud ran into my bedroom barking as if to say "he's in here" After finding me and realizing she couldn't extract me on her own she phoned the ambulance. The officers arrived within minutes and soon figured they'd need another crew. They were both rather small females. So two more rather small females arrived and after careful consideration they managed to place me on my bed. Whilst this was happening two police vehicles arrived with lights and sirens on. Two ambulances and two police cars made a pretty display of coloured lights and the entire street turned out to spectate. We heard later the police arrived because the Ambulance reported "Man trapped" Even the rescue brigade were called out, but luckily they were called off when the all clear went out. One silly fall and one small, loyal and caring pet and the entire emergency service was activated. It even made the local and regional papers. Man's best friend is what they're called and for a very good reason.

My problem with group photos of my fleet of boats and squadrons of planes (what the call a bunch of quadcopters I'm not sure, maybe a flock) is that they are located in 3 different rooms and mostly, where possible, with wings detached. It would be a day's work to attach wings and park them on the lawn outside. There simply isn't anywhere else I could display so many. I must admit it would make a great photo. I would no doubt have a massive coronary after or during the 60 or so trips up and down the steps to the garden to achieve such a display. Also, I don't believe this forum would take kindly to so many photos littering the place. I could type a list of them and post them here and should you want to see a photo of it, I could upload it. First I would have to conduct a stock take just to remember every plane I've built.

A few people have questioned the number of my models and to them I say "I'm no liar" The reason for so many is because I needed something to take my mind off pain and because I wasn't allowed to move from my bed I had to have something to do. I'm definitely not one to be doing nothing. I originally started repairing digital cameras. I taught myself what I could about their workings by pulling them apart, then locating and fixing whatever the problem was and the biggest hurdle was figuring out how to put the darned things back together. After a while I got better at it and began buying them from Ebay. After 18 months I managed to collect around 60 fully working cameras. I listed them on Ebay and I considered myself lucky to have made roughly what they cost me in the first place. Although they were all top brands, everyone wanted the newer, more pixel cameras.

From that I moved to making wooden models. I enjoyed that although my wife wasn't too happy about the sawdust and wood shavings littering the bed and twice a day she vacuum cleaned me and the bed. I donated a huge number to small children in our town, but did manage to keep a few.

Then I somehow had a relapse of the RC bug. I'd experienced  3 long periods of building and flying models previously, during my life and saw building the newer foam constructions as something therapeutic and enjoyable and at least I'd have them ready to fly when I got back on my feet. My problem was the recovery was interspersed with even more operations which left me somewhat the worse for wear and my doctor decided to introduce various pain killers and drugs designed to combat side effects which other drugs had caused. They sometimes say "the cure can be worse than the bite", believe me, it's true. At one stage I was taking one tablet to offset the side effect of another tablet which I took to offset the result of yet another. I finally called a halt to that scenario and that decision landed me back in hospital. My immune system was destroyed by Agent Orange and Agent Blue and any stray microbe or virus can render me incapacitated very quickly. I'm slowly building my system up which should see me flying on a more regular basis. Gee, I must sound like a hypochondriac. I'll shut up.

Moves are afoot (silly word, why afoot, why not "moves are akneecap or maybe aelbow) Moves are ahand to bring all my planes into one area. How this will be achieved I have no idea as yet. Perhaps a sophisticated rack system or hang them from the ceiling as I've done over my workbench. Ive discovered planes don't take lightly to being stacked one atop another so room is going to be tight if they all have to be in one room. Maybe my crash rate will take care of enough to lessen the space required.

Goodness it's 12.20 am. I'd better try to get some shut eye. Take your time reading my post, you will need it, actually if you've managed to get this far you already have. DUH!
