When did it happen ? My parcel was released last Saturday from Delhi IMC! Don't know if that was a victim of the heist. Just last week AkshayB on this forum received package with most of the items missing! Where  did it happen?  FPO or Custom holding area. I wonder why HobbyKing doesn't provide insured shipping.

Could you tell me in what condition you received the package ? was it torn/repacked or very professionally re-packaged beyond detection ? There were stories running about highly professional gang working in partnership with Postal folks who used to steal DD/check payments sent from abroad and draw them with a newly created bank account (with help of bank employees).
What ever the local Postal Dept guy says, people at any level may have been involved. With people so frequently using E-bay/FlipKart, a whole new kind of robbers are coming up.

@ujjwal - The package looked like any other parcel which arrives at my doorstep. It had a few depressions in the corners of the box. I was soo happy when I saw my package, but then when i held it in my hand, it was FRIGGIN EMPTY !!! :'(

The postmaster told me that it was empty when it arrived at the customs office(b'lore). My father suspects that the people who open the packages at the customs offices might be behind this...

Are you sure ? The Tape/Label Seal was intact ? Then it is VERY serious. People have to complain to to the Post office and even involve the Media (I bet the Local TV9 would be happy to uncover yet another corruption). If you had declared everything well, I would request you to ahead and make a formal complain for the benefit all other people here on the forum.

The Indian Postal system, like Indian Airlines, has been struggling since the advent of private courier service due to their gross unprofessionalism (which has any ways passed on to private courier) and occasional fraud/theft. These incidents shouldn't go unpunished.

Rajath, Seems like he would have taken the parcel only because it had an expensive watch in it. Doubt they should find any use for a LiPo battery.
Samanth, sorry for the loss man. I know what it feels like to have the parcel in your hand. I don't know how it feels when its empty though. :(

@Ujjwal - Yeah, thats how it looked. I think all of this was planned before because 18 other packages were whacked. And my father is writing a letter/complaint , as advised by the postmaster. The postmaster himself also wrote a letter to b'lore customs regarding several whacked items. Involving the media into this is a good idea :D

@rajath - I ordered it using United States Postal Service(USPS) , International Priority Mail. (registered)

Now, I am actually afraid of ordering things online...

First of all I doubt authenticity of information provided by you about 18 lost packages.

Secondly if this is so I can't say for sure if it is all stolen in India. In my case I clearly doubt HK for the missing items, if any body wants to steal, I presume RC stuff should be last use full thing for anybody, until he, himself is a Rcer.

Samanth have you also lost some thing, if so I bet parcel is from HK. Isn't it?, don't talk to them, if you paid by paypal just shoot a case in it, without waste of time.

Heads UP here for all the RC dealers sellers and even RCers if somebody offers to sell cheap rc stuff just don't buy it and ask for the source and help to grab culprit.

I presume many many people jump reading HK name here HA Ha Ha......... darn with HK Tyranny

Great reason to declare all items and  value correctly while the item is shipped and also take in insurance. If with all this your items are missing you can always file an insurance claim. Both the seller and buyers are protected

Some time back there was an article in the Deccan Herald that the employees at the post office at Museum road actually open up these boxes and remove the contents and replace with some other items. The article reported one victim actually saying that a pair of jeans ordered online was replaced with old books in the parcel. The culprits are right at the PO. Try ordering some worthless stuff and surely you will get it!!

There is more awaiting your parcels. Have you seen the 15 to 20ft ramp in the middle of stairs at the entry ? The throw all the parcels down from top to be loaded into the van. I have received dented LiPos because they didn't bother to pack it back properly after inspection and was then thrown around.

The entire system is corrupt right from the Peon till the Ministers. Everything is in open today with no single Govt Dept clean of these. Nothing to be surprised of.

I hope you know why I made the comment... it was meant for people in denial (or out of touch with ground realities).

Sad thing is that the state of private couriers also leave a lot of be desired for.  In a recent case conveyed to me via PM after the heated exchange on another thread, one of India's most respected LHSes sent some long but thin items to a member, and it arrived with nothing inside.  The package had holes on both ends and item inside was completely missing. The good thing with the LHS was that they sent the item again, and the buyer paid for shipping again.

I have seen Aramex courier guys throw parcels to the back of the truck (to be stacked up there). This was outside the customs office at the Doha airport cargo terminal.  When I questioned the folks doing this (I order radios etc through Aramex), they said they feel the weight of the item before throwing it, and also look at how well it is packed... and only throw items that they are confident about.  To my shocked eyes, I couldn't see them making that determination... based on how fast they were going through the large number of packages.

I am a victim of a bit different, but a blunder which changed my career..

I recieved my councelling letter for Aeronautical Engineering two months back which was sent THREE years back in june 2008..
Now i am in a different professional course and about to complete my third year.. I had lots of argues with the postmaster, but i knew it was worthless.
I knew that i could do nothing as three years have passed.. :(

I think the sufferer should get together and file a Criminal case of fraud and robbery against the corrupt officials. Complaining to Head postmaster won't yield any result as they may be either incapable to take action against thier own staff (crappy union cartel) or even may be themselves involved to some extent.

The case may take ages, but at least they would think twice before repeating the crime that consumer may strike back. Remember, tolerating crime is crime itself as you are encouraging the criminal to make new victims.

The problem of our plagued British era system is that rarely Police can open case based on paper reports unless people appear in flesh and blood to testify.

there has to be a mandatory fine imposed on the courier companies, multiple times the cost of the parcel.. >:(

This may tune up the these companies to keep a strict check on their employees..

My father said the exact same thing.  :headscratch: He said he had experienced something like this before and the culprits were the customs officials who open the packages.

So, we can order things online only if its worthless to the customs officials.

We are so lucky that they are not interested in RC...or else they would have whacked every single package and probably replaced it with stones..
