I think, with the consumerisation of DJI made everything fall apart. What do you think?
Hi ,
Found your question interesting ; DJI is no doubt the leading drone brand in the world and it seems impossible for any other company/startup to overtake them in nearby future but, DJI has done a lot for DIY people as well . Their flight controllers/ motors / gimbals etc. being so reliable and stable have given DIY people and startups an easy and quick way to provide user friendly and reliable flying platforms suited for specific requirements to customers. Moreover DJI is hardcore into Aerial photography drone thereby leaving a large sector of other application drones for solution industries and startups to deal with. This is my personal view but other may bear different opinions . ;D
That's not the case. DJI is a tough competitor. Most of the startups give up after a few months, because of scarce sales.
Let's be optimistic.
@Aravind bro you are a bit correct. @inventobotics Sir, I am not talking about the Cinematography or Racing setups dji provide , it's the Drones that are truly needed , like the agricultural sectors and Inspection. I made this post after seeing a video by DJI. But I agree to the idea of helping startups do services like inspections etc. But I am talking about the startups which build customized Drones.

Ya for startups building their own flights controllers and propulsion systems DJI is a nightmare. >:D
Providing cheaper and equally reliable drones may give an advantage to startups as DJI is the APPLE of drones and not everyone can afford their ready made stuff.
DJI is apple for drones but only for Indians and few other countries because of heavy custom duties. DJI is costly because their products worth it. Don't just go with the hardware cost but also software, testing etc. It also offers SDK support for developers so that they can only focus on their application buidling rather than drone building. Some developers even consider cheap because they have a platform ready to deploy their applications.
DJI is boon for application developers and bane for hobbyists, start ups who want to build drones.
I often feel that some company should compete with DJI but unfortunately there is no such company. Even qualcomm backed 3DR is slow I feel.
I am neither a fan of DJI nor APPLE. I appreciate their innovation.
