Any serious Meccano collectors here? I am talking about the old, heavy metal, pre and post war sets.
Regards.

I had a No:9 + 2 large (old, wooden No: 5) boxes of extra parts. Foolishly parted with all of it ( and some other unforgivable stuff like LPs) after I moved residence to the suburbs in 1978. Solid brass gears, several motors - including the tiny "magic motor" and a couple of electrics. Oh the smell of Ozone from the arcing carbon brushes! And for what it is worth, I had won first prize for a Quayside Unloader crane which used 4 motors so that all functions could operate simultaneously. That was at a Society of Model Engineers annual exhibition in 1956 !
Sir, today I feel that I am one of the luckiest people on this planet. I have just acquired an ancient Meccano collection all packed in original boxes. Starting from Set 0 all the way up to Set 8. It seems to be of pre war vintage and the collection weighs around 12 Kgs or more. My good friend, V.K.Singh was instrumental in this set reaching me safe and sound.
interesting ..... how about some photos ?
not that I'm into that sort of stuff...
