You have to clear it with necessary MSDS documents.
If it really were to go through customs, I don't think they'll let you have it.

Anyways, atb!

Keep us posted.

Sorry if I sound ignorant, but to the best of my knowledge, MSDS is Material Safety Data Sheet, and as such will have nothing to do with Customs, but with the Carrier

Taksh, every parcel goes through Customs. If Customs has a problem, they are obligated to inform you. In Calcutta, the Customs could take 2 weeks

After Customs, they may (a) Decide to simply release it back to the Carrier - courier/Post (b) Levy Customs Duty as/if applicable (c) detain it

Detention applies to (a) illegal transaction eg Under-Invoicing (b) Restricted or banned item

For now, just wait.

It is not a good idea to get electronics or parts identifiable with Drones as these are under scrutiny. If possible, ask the supplier to write "Parts of Educational Toy, model Robot"

I use to import battery packs and motors in bulk, and I'm bound to submit these documents to Customs. Presently, I employ a forwarder to get the job done, but I myself used to clear them once.
It's really required to clear it, maybe because it was bulk, idk. That was my experience :)

Let him wait, and get it cleared.

Aravind, were your bulk imports commercial in nature, using IEC code? If so, all these mandated documents have their role. If personal use import, mostly it's up to the whim of the officer.

Even after all these years, we are still getting these same queries about well worn topics. Why not do a simple search and read through the first few threads to get the pattern of customs? Usually these posts pop up when customs actually touch the consignment, but this time it's still on its way to CED. Quite some 'progress'.

Exactly. Items were for research and personal use. But it changes from people-to-people who assess the cargo.
Some of them even find it difficult, if it's for the mentioned use or for commercial.
Well, I had a company and hence an IEC. So, it was just a breeze for me ;D
