Today there is an article in TOI regarding a guy from Kolkata made a drone and claims to be a prodigy. Does anybody has any details regarding this. Just want to know what its upto, mostly TOI time on time without any background check publish article where reporter got fascinated by a gizmo because of his lack technical knowledge and proclaim to be a invention.

Any one from this forum can build much much better then that
I used to build such (aircraft only) when I was in 5th class

Even I read the story and was surprised to see the video posted above! The voices from the background clearly indicates someone behind the screen guiding the guy how to fly in bengali! left left...right right...up up....  :giggle:

Seriously, there are much much more talented people here in the forum who can build much better and well equipped flying devices than this one!

I don't know how this one came into the limelight!  :headscratch: May be has really created something amazing ???  8-)

yaar we should send a letter to the Hon' Editor of TOI the link to our forum or they will publish these crap articles.. very sad to see these kind of articles stating first one in india and other crappy things :/

yash10896

you can make a quadcopter in less than 15k in which you can use turnigy frames and for scratch build u can simply use aluminium booms or wood and they are stating 30k wth....

I posted a reply on their website and I would speak to the chief editor tomorrow and try to explain that this is not new!
My comment goes like this:

''There cannot be any patent involved! What will it be about? Being one of the thousands of people who make Quadcoptersand tricopters etc. in India! I live in Dona Paula and have been pursuing this RC hobby for the last 4 years and I can tell you that this is NOTHING NEW. Quadcopters have been built and flown by literally thousands of people in India and a few in Goa itself. RC hobby is a hobby which isn't very popular because of its costs but saying that it took 30K to make a quadcopter is like saying you paid 10 Lakh for a Tata Nano! I personally have been flying FPV(First Pilot View) which is a much higher technology and quality than what the alleged 'Quadcopter Aditya' you speak of. I would like to say that if the hobbyists want to 'show-off ' with their equipment then this quadcopter is just a small beginning. I would say that they have done a good job as a beginner team but it is nowhere near to the quality of the things which are happening these days. A person can successfully build and fly a Quadcopter for under 12K in India and thus "Aditya" is what I think of a hyped up Project which is no different than the usual RC material available in the market. I would like to write how all this quadcopter and drones buisness is really not a big thing if it compared to the hobby community's work which is boundary-less. And about the flying radius part- a normal hobby grade quadcopter can fly in a radius of about 1.5km and 1.5km high as well. I would like to interact with the Students who made this quadcopter and tell them about the No-New community of RC pilots and makers who do what they have done on a reqular basis.

He is customer of quadkopters.com

I wonder with such irresponsible acts and stupid media coverage:
if there is a stage where our (stupid) government decides to illegalize such activities, how would it affect the LHS? as most of these guys buy stuffs from LHS now a days.
one stop for multirotor needs:

Only 200mtrs of demonstration for what is being claimed for 10Kms thats the highlights!!!!!.  If you have friends and relatives in media you can do this too. Yes our media and mass is ignorant to this level. What a rubbish.

He disappeared from the forum the moment the discussion about patents and all started.

Did not have one word to say about what he has done other than out-of-the-box commercial stuff.

@Anwarji it is obvious he will disappear since he has used stuff from HK or LHS for all his models. And if he is still boasting about his Models flying for 10km he should demo it at 10km not 200m (it's obvious it can't go that far).

as my onion....we should ignore these type of news,
related agency like DRDO, know everything..like so many cheep hobby items are easily available in Today mkt,
Actually drone technology is more advance to these cheep items.

Hey, I didn't like this comment. and dear sir, i am not rich like u ,, who can buy a ready-made plane or a helicopter and fly for youe own fun or hobby,, and all my design is made by scrap materials which you didnt think ever,, you guys reserved this hobby for yourself only,, not for the guys who cant effort the money to buy a rc plane in india,, you think u r doing very well ,, just buy a model and fly it,, ok, good then do it, no problem,, but can you please tell me what is main mechanical difference  between rc plane and a drone,, and if you read the TOI article then u can see they mentioned it mini drone,, like a drone ,, not just a real big drone,, so pls do whatever u r doing with ur hobby,, and dont give foolish comment ,, thank you

The comment:
Laxman Suthar (October 2, 2013): dear, don't make fool others who do not know about your drone...you are just misguide all of them, "buy just cheep rc items & make rc plane & put one camera" not be a drone...just thinks twice..there are so many aeromodellers exists in india who can make much batter flying machine then you..kindly do not call your rc plane is Drone.

I didnt try to imply that the model is bad, but the capabilities are a bit far fetched. And i appreciate the fact that he built it, but it would be wrong to call it a drone (as discussed in another thread).

I think Mr. Saha should atleast come on the forum and share his models' details with us.
