Ive NEver flown a heli b4 but in terms of flight time a heli will fly longer than a quad right? for the same battery i mean..

The flight time is more for a quad. At least for me. My S500 quad weights about 1300 g, and flight time (using ~80% capacity of 2200 mAh lipo) is around 7 to 8 min. In loiter mode. But my heli weights around 850 g and I am getting only 6 to 7 minutes of hovering @ ~2500 rpm head speed. I can use low rpm hover, but then cyclic responses are slow and heli becames hard to control.

wow thats interesting... i was fairly certain that the flight time of a heli would be significantly more.. interesting results.

I am in the way to test the load current for both of the machines. Because for last 5 year or so I am flying quads, never get a hot battery after landing. I never used a battery above 35C in my quads. But to my surprise the battery of my heli gets heat up upon landing and it forces me to use a 40 C battery (can't get more C ratting in Indian online shopping sites) even it gets hot in case of higher rpms.

Btw how much did the Heli cost you? Also aren't they expensive to maintain?

You are right. Helis are costly, but they are worth for the money you pay for the fantastic flight you enjoy. As I said before I was involved in quad only, but they lack the sound of energy that the heli blades make during pitch change. As a pilot I just fill the thrill. That is what I am paying for. Paying for the amazing thrill! 3D flying is great but needs dedicated practice. Just hovering a heli is a challenge in itself. So many setting, tunning, measurements, balancing etc. for a perfect flight. That is what I want to do. No flight controller, no black box, just manual control and lots of fun! It is my personal experience. Thanks.
