Hi Everyone,

Fellow Drone enthusiast here. Recently the Govt. of India released a draft of new drone rules named as Drone Rules 2021 and is inviting suggestions.
https://www.civilaviation.gov.in/sites/default/files/Draft_Drones_Rules_14_Jul_2021.pdf

The Government is inviting suggestions on the Draft before 5thAug 2021.
I am just hoping that we all should mail them our suggestions now, rather than curse them later on. :)

While this new draft has allowed certain relaxations, there are certain things I hope to see change that I have mentioned below.
[I understand that some of you might find my suggestions unnecessary or even wrong, maybe due to my misinterpretation of the Draft or difference in opinion. Either way, let me know and I will correct myself. :D]

1. Acknowledgement of Drones that are self build or assembled under the nano or micro Category for the sake of individual research and/or recreational purposes only.

2. Exemption of under 1kg Drones made for recreational flying from Certificate of Airworthiness(Mainly due to the requirement of NPNT hardware, firmware and Geo-fencing)

3. A much clearer definition of Drones on which these rules are applicable, since a variety of Aerial vehicles are built and flown by enthusiasts all around India.

These are my suggestions. Please do mail them about yours.

Happy Flying

I am of the opinion that these rules doesn't apply to model airplanes, but that's my assumptions.

Earlier there were many post on this forum on draft drone policy.
Many came forward with their views/suggestions.
They should again come forward with their views/suggestions and should mail them to the authorities concern.

I am not sure. They mention Drones as "unmanned Aircraft System". So it seems like any Aircraft would come under this.

Aero-modelling is a costly hobby and on this government is planning to put more pressure/weight on it.
Drone is killing aero-modelling or it will die it's own death, slowly.......
Atleast government should think about all the aero-modellers who are flying rc airplanes for re-creational purpose / enjoyment / sheer passion.

Feeling sad !!!

I do share your grief but brother it's not Drones but it's misuse as a threat to the country is what that's causing  the harm.
Nonetheless, I am hopeful that we could reach a balance ground that would allow us to enjoy our hobby, if we all strive for it.

I think they drafted all those rules and were not able to make any profit as they hoped . So now to save face they are asking for suggestions. After taking our suggestions the government will make really strict rules and taxes and so we will not even be able to write the word :DRONE: without getting penalties and taxes and the police at our doorstep.

One of the only real commercial public drone flyer who was frequently utilised was the wedding photographer . Many were hounded by the Police and heavy fines were imposed on them .

I feel that If someone cannot differentiate between quadcopter, airplane, helicopter , glider, he is unfit to make any rules for them.
