Reminds me of a joyride I took in the US. Since I called them at short notice, they had difficulty arranging the instructor pilot. They finally managed to get hold of one and informed me. As most of us would do, first thing I did was google his name. From some of the reports I calculated his age and had a shock, he was 85 years old  :o :o :o I was considering dropping out. Further googling informed me he has been flying for over 50 years and has received award for an incident free record. Tentatively, I decided to go ahead. At the airport, this dude turns up in a vintage (or almost vintage) sports car. He insisted on doing all the preflight checks himself inspite of me offering to do it considering his age. He further proceeded to pull some Gs that made me uncomfortable, turned out he is probably fitter than me. I got more than my moneys worth of flying that day.

I guess he did want to put others in confusion any more (by having concerns about his ability to fly), so he announced his retirement ;)
