I wonder why it took so long to make a real thrust vectored hovering plane !! FA-35/X-35,  took almost 100 years after invention of plane, I am not counting Sea Hairier, which didn't had acro caps(capability) while hovering. Aeromodlers did it over 20 years of electric flight!!
